Agree re Taiwan, I feel like Wolves' Fosun story is hurtling towards a very abrupt end.

Am I the only one that couldn't care less about Guedes? Our transfer activity for years has had absolutely zero strategy behind it. We currently don't have a striker and our midfield has no options at all, and here we are again looking at another forward. We say we need to be sustainable, fine - so stop wasting money on positions we don't need anyone for! (With that said, if we get Guedes cheap and then let mgw go for lots in order to free up cash for positions we do need then that's fine.)

Guedes cheap? The figure being touted is £38m. Is that cheap by today's standards? I don't know but I'm sure we could get a striker for that sort of money.

Certainly the priority is a centre forward, so Guedes plus a striker is the need. Still remain unsure whether MGW will stay but hope he does, and although Hwang did ok yesterday I remain unconvinced by him. Do think we need the mentality of saying what do we need for a squad not just the first 11. And in that context if we bring in another quality forward it can only help.

Seems to still be a call for an attacking midfield player but teams that play 4231 tend to play two defensive midfield players ahead of the defence. If we play as some seem to be suggesting with 4 forwards, a more attacking midfield, and attacking full backs, that’s not attacking its cavalier, and just wouldn’t work at this level. We conceded two yesterday against a team I expect to finish in the bottom third so we can’t afford to be more positive than that. But we do need players in the attacking third that score regularly to make the change in formation work. I don’t think the 4 we played in attack yesterday will get enough goals for us over the season.

I'm still not convinced that playing with a back four is the way forward with this squad. On yesterdays showing the two worst players were our full backs.

I'm not quite sure what you meant cinci, when you suggested we only changed our system because Moutinho got injured in training. Bruno was, I'm sure, going with a 4-2-3-1 no matter what and Dendonker filled the void and it doesn't matter what system you play, if you make defensive errors like yesterday.

What's also a bit weird is, we have two players who are recognized CF's and could certainly provide some sort of cover until we have to name our 25 man squad. I'm sure at least Cutrone could do a better job than an unfit Hwang.

posted on 7/8/22

If Moutinho hadn’t been injured I’m sure we would have started with the same 433 that played against Sporting last week. Moutinho was in effect replaced by Hwang

Don’t think Hwang was unfit yesterday otherwise he wouldn’t have played

Some media reports today saying Neto is wanted by Man Utd and Arsenal and that Guedes is being lined up to replace him

Liam Keen's player ratings.

Hwang Hee-chan - 6
Hwang had a good first half and helped Wolves create chances. He looked unfit in the second half, however, and tailed off.

Interesting to read a lot on here about Wolves not being able to bring on subs and leeds could.
Other than Klich our entire bench was made up of players aged 17-20 with very little game time.

I agree. The move makes little sense to me. I guess if it were Guedes for MGW then it can be seen as improving a little. Say MGW is a 7/10 and Guedes a 8/10 player. If it is Neto out Guedes in then it would be another backward step to me.

The quicker Fosun sell the better it is for us at this point in my opinion and i have zero doubt that is what they want also.

We would have played 4-3-3 yesterday if Moutinho was fit. That is what we we're training and preparing for.

Well your manager obviously has a little faith in the youngsters, ours clearly doesn't and he also showed that last season only picking them when we had absolutely no other choice.

Due to injuries the Leeds United head coach did not have much choice. Leeds bought 6 players in the summer, what is your lots' excuse. Most likely they will be more players arriving to play at Elland Road 3 in 1 out.

Selling our best players makes no sense whatsoever,
It is another desperate plan by our board.
If it were MGW I would not have a problem As he is unproven and in my opinion would generate some funds to improve us. I am not sure MGW will ever be up to standard.

Excuse? We have a first team of about 15-16 players, 4 were injured, Bruno won't turn to unproven kids unless he absolutely has no other choice. Hence one sub yesterday after 80 minutes.

So the question is why, having been in the EPL longer than Leeds, getting £100m plus each year… why have you only got a squad of 15-16 players? Yes Leeds sold 2 great players this last month, but they’ve bought 10+ first framers in 2 years to boost their squad. Where’s your money gone??

I wish we knew. You probably may not be aware but a large majority of Wolves fans are completely disillusioned by the whole thing. It truly is ridiculous.

We have three proven midfielders and one proven center forward. Two of those four were missing yesterday which leads to us having to ditch our game plan. It is too pathetic for words.

So it appears at present Wolves have similar problems to Leeds. Sadly for you Leeds got three points out of the game. I am sorry for Wolves position, but my first concern is Leeds. Leeds look to have some very useful young players, M Joseph for example put four in the onion bag. Though give these players anther couple of years and where will Leeds be. Leeds have a long term plan. Can you say the same for your team?

I like the look of gehlhardt as well. We have some promising guys but most not ready yet. No doubt we won't have a choice when a few injuries hit. Sink or swim. Good luck for the season, hope you stay up.

We are owned by the Chinese, I’ll give you a guess.
I’m more worried about the future if we fall out with the Chinese, which is more than likely.

Story is that Guedes is booked in for a medical tomorrow with the transfer fee and salary fully agreed. Another one of those quality signings we could only have dreamed about a few years ago.

Still appears to be hope we can sign Gonçalo Ramos from Benfica on a loan deal with an obligation to buy. Another fabulous deal if it happened. Benfica are evidently close to signing Neves’s mate Ricardo Horta from Braga to replace Ramos.

After a sluggish window it seems a bit too hard to believe we could pull off both those signings
