Telles is not bang average, Process. Telles for the levels we are aspiring to is POOR. Think Telles and think the fullbacks at Pool and City

Fair. He was being kind to him.

Some of the contracts that Woodward and the team underneath him gave out are borderline criminal. It's only Barca's madness that makes them look slightly better in truth it's a joke.

Luke Shaw for example being on 200k a week is crazy. Rashford, despite me being a big fan of his, is on far too much too. Martial is on 250k a week. Giving Jones a 4 year deal has to be up there with one of the worst decisions of all time.

It's a shocking state of affairs we've gotten ourselves into and sadly not easily fixed.

Brandon Williams on 100k is another crazy one.

The Glazers left that man in charge 9 years too. Is that what competent owners look like? People wonder why I hate them as much as I do.

It's madness. Not only does it mean we have everyone on over-market salaries, but we end up having to pay part of it if we loan or sell them like the Telles situation. But also, if we do actually manage to sell them and the club will cover all the salary, we get less than the market transfer fee because the clubs can't do both the high salary and a transfer fee. Either way, United ends up eating the costs.

Woodward should be blacklisted from ever running a company again. How on earth can you think Jones is an asset worth keeping around for 4 more years?

Blacklisting? I'd hang him outside the Stretty...

Also this from Romano today;

Manchester United and Watford are prepared to complete the agreement for Ethan Laird on loan. Deal to be finalised this week. 🔴 #MUFC

Ten Hag, happy with his potential and attitude but Laird needs to play - Watford are intentioned to proceed with loan deal.

———
Must mean we’re getting a rb in before the window closes?

He hasn’t given AWB a single minute despite being fit for the whole pre season

He’s played 3 times off the bench but it’s clear that the manager doesn’t fancy him. Hopefully a clever signing like Malacia if AWB goes.

I've seen a few links with Pavard. The fact that he's available from Bayern for a very reasonable fee is a bit of a red flag. Scored a lovely goal in the last world cup but I don't remember being impressed with him at all since his move to Bavaria. He looks a classic Woodward signing.

Does anyone else think AWB was one of the leak sources, hence why he's not even been given a chance to prove himself under ETH? Right from the beginning, it seemed like he was out, whereas all the underperforming players were given a chance.

Sevilla’s plan A is our unwanted Reguillon which I’d guess will be sorted soon

I think his qualities as a football player are sufficient to explain his treatment. And it's not as though he has been frozen out entirely. He has played some minutes during the tour, just hasn't been in the first XI selections. Under Rangnick Dalot was picked quite frequently, so it's not as though it's even a clear demotion for AWB compared to last season.

Maybe he rates Dalot and thinks he can get more from him. Someone like Pavard as a safe, not brilliant but cheap and experienced competition for him. I don’t know though, probably nothing in the links anyway.

I actually think Dalot has a fairly high ceiling - just don't really have any faith anyone will ever get it out of him.

I will tell you how our scouts recruited Telles. By you tube highlights and stats that don’t tell the whole story.

I don’t think anyone went to actually watch him once what so ever. I had a few run ins on here with people who kept telling me how good his stats were.

And now I think we can all agree that Telles is an awful defender and really does not add anything to the attack.

Much like Dalot on the other side, I might add.

Hopefully we’ll get rid of Dalot, Williams and AWB as well.

That’s a load of nonsense.

He wasn’t signed to start at LB, though. Rightly or wrongly, he was signed as cover for Luke Shaw.

The fair comparisons with Telles would be Tsimikas or Ramsay.

I’d rather have Gordon Ramsey than Telles.

This article is absolutely on the money.

I appreciate that salaries are not published but Telles is reportedly being paid £90k per week.

Even if that’s too high, based on Porto’s salary structure, he has almost certain got more than 100% pay rise when he joined United.

Unproven in the PL, playing in the Portuguese league… why on earth are we paying players like that so much money?

No wonder we struggle to offload players.

AWB needs to be the first one out the door

Aren't the contracts given under Woodward comically high because he had the idea that Utd should have all the image rights rather than the players but to mitigate that loss they got a higher basic?

It's incredibly short sighted and as someone has said above, not easy to rectify.
