He's not the first player we've heard of though where Ole has promised game time and not followed through with it. Can understand why he wouldn't be happy with that. Its bizarre management really.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This. Ole was telling porkies and destroying careers.
I think a few people including the op need to read the interview again.

To be honest I only returned to ja606 due to Henderson rant at Man Utd. To be honest I expected something like that to come out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where have you been hafi?
Think his main frustration will be that he's not really in England contention at the moment, in the year of a world cup. Maybe he will do well enough in the next three months to pull himself back in, but he's lost ground to both Pickford and Ramsdale, and behind Pope and Johnstone now.
I don't think that he has ever really let us down and believe that he should have had a chance to prove he is no.1 material for United. There we times when he came in and did better than De Gea.
Thought Romero was better than Hendo.
I`d take Henderson over De Gea any day
Haven't read the whole thread, so apologies if someone has already said this, but the unusually vitriolic tone of those remarks suggest to me that:
1. bridges have been burnt and it's unlikely he'll ever play for United again.
2. makes Henderson a prime suspect as leaker of negative stories from the dressing room. If this were the case it would also explain why Rangnick never played him, despite the fact he's a more natural fit in the pressing style, and why the club were ready to loan him out before ETH got to look at him (which wouldn't be Henderson's call to make unilaterally).
RR
There wasn’t anything vitriolic in what he said.
VC, maybe 'vitriolic' was the wrong word but I've rarely heard a player speaking so negatively about their club when except when they are on their way out permanently, having parted on bad terms.
To be more specific, these are the quotes I'm referring to:
"The conversation I had with United after the Euros was that I was going back to Old Trafford to be number one. [...] But nobody followed through with what they told me. [...] It's criminal at my age, I wasted twelve months. I was fuming."
He also stated that his dream match would be playing AGAINST United this season and he's disappointed he can't do so, under the terms of the loan.
And implies that he sympathises with Lingard about unfair treatment on the part of United:
"Jesse had a tough season as well last year; people standing in his way and not letting him go and play football."
Yeah, the language isn't vitriolic, but it's very undiplomatic, and contrasts very clearly with the way he was talking about coming back to United to compete for the starting XI a couple of years ago. I guess it was the Lingard bit that planted the seed in my head that he might have been a source of the locker room disharmony.
RR
I have already read it. I get where he is coming from to be honest. I thought OGS was well in the wrong on this one. Ralf was just incompetent.

Not sure that’s completely true. It was the players that were incompetent, they were the ones out on the field. Ralf probably wasn’t great but was up against a bunch of lazy overpaid cants. .
One thing I don't understand about his interview though was that he was told he'd be number one but that he'd also turned down good loan offers. If it was him doing the turning down that would suggest the club was happy to allow him to go on loan...
The loan offers were probably to him and his agent.

Even so there's no guarantee the club would have granted it. I do have a degree of sympathy if he was given assurances though but there's nothing certain in football..
Maybe, but if the player has been approached for a loan - but turned it down because he’d been promised the number one spot - then that doesn’t indicate the club were open to loans. Furthermore, he’d have probably been in discussions with the club anyway so would have come to the conclusion that he’ll reject the loans because of the promises he was made.
I don’t really rate Henderson, but it’s clear that he’s been facked about by the club.

Fair points and it's bad if he was guaranteed the No1 jersey but I suppose you should never presume either. I've no doubt Ole tried his best but when you look a bit under the surface he did get a lot wrong didn't he!

To be clear, I'm not saying he's wrong to be unhappy with how he was treated. My point is that these sounds to me like the words of a man who has long checked out from his relationship with the club.
I wonder if there was any truth to the rumours that Henderson was the ‘leaker’. Would make sense that someone as “wronged’ as him would seek some sort of payback
I didn't hear any rumours Robb but the burnt-bridges tone and content of his comments made me think that. Also the fact that he's the one player we loaned out before ETH had a chance to take a look at him.
If I was the manager of Man Utd last 2 seasons De Gea would have been sold and Romero and Henderson would have shared the games.

The forum is united in their astonishment that you hold this view, Hafi
Talking of astonishment, I will be astonished if De Gea keeps more clean sheets than Henderson this season in the premierleague. Shocked. De Gea keeping more clean sheets than Henderson in the premierleague seems unlikely.
