Because you are more like 10 players away at least, and also have an incompetent manager who runs away from big games when he has a few injuries.
You'd need a decent manager too.

Spurs need 10 new players to compete for the league. Maybe 9. Only Kane and Son would be at the requisite level.

You need a new Manager as well as new players
So if Partey, Tomiyasu and Jesus stay fit then Arsenal are only two players off competing for the league.
Tielemans and a winger.

It’s only really City that have an XI comparable to ours in terms of talent.
If we sign a top winger though, then we’ll really be set.

Yeah agreed. That winger better be Pele and Maradona’s love child, mind.
Put Rodri, KdB, Salah, R.James and Kane into our team then we would have every chance of winning the league.
So, to clarify, you are saying you need literally half a first team "to compete" yet there are several just on this post alone that think you are already there. Not to mention all the "super gooners" on AFTV who can go from deep disappointment to jumping up and down in the street outside the stadium saying we are undefeated in pre season, so league title on its way. And all in a blink of an eye.
Christ, if you are half a team short ( and a manager that actually knows what he is doing, of course ) then you are no better than the various teams aiming for mid table.
God, why do you lot do this to yourselves every year ?
