I’m sure we’ll deffo end up with a striker. I really wouldn’t be against Mitrovic. Surely he’s gettable.

The Vardy rumours are amusing but might just be crazy enough to work.

Ivan Toney is the one.

You can when you consider what we were going through in this world.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How does that make sense?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Haven't you heard? We are the only team in the world that benefitted from COVID.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It could be the case. Just as it was the base we benefitted a lot from refs under Ferguson. What we know out of covid and pressure to deliver, the manager was given his P45. Robb has explained numerous reasons as to the league positions these seasons but carry on being obtuse!!

I’d take him but I reckon Brentford would ask for a fortune.

Sadly that’s going to be the case for any striker we target.

I’d actually prefer we sign a wide player anyway. Quite like the idea of a forward line that is positionless.

Martial out of Brighton game with hamstring injury
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I for one am shocked that we can’t rely on Martial
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Should’ve gone all out and sold Ronaldo and bet on Martial

Yes I’d agree there.

I like that too. I know us and Ajax are different but I always assumed Haller was a pretty traditional #9. Is that what you think ETH would prefer or is he fairly flexible.

Vardy would be yet another ageing striker we'd be bringing in when he's on the slide, but worse than that is we'd be lumbered with his fame hungry moose of a wife.

I would think that all of us who want to see Ronaldo gone would expect to see a new striker coming in.

You do know that don’t you?

Rob, I think he’s pretty flexible and bases it on what he has in the squad. We clearly suit a more mobile and flexible attack with players we have. But then we have to consider the difficulties we are having in the transfer market. Antony, for example, would have been a player worth bringing in but that looks unlikely now.

What you/I/ we want and what this club can deliver different things. Surely when thinking about wants one must assess what can and can’t be delivered

And you think the club has not done this based on the fact we have not bought one yet?

It isn’t going to happen until Ronaldo is out the door.

but I see no reason why a better organised and more motivated side shouldn’t be able to qualify for the CL even with a bit to spare.
———-

Liverpool won’t have the same injury issues, Conte is a world class manager and they’ve had a good window and Chelsea are much better than under Lampard

It’ll be hard for us to make top 4
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You speak as if it would be necessary to finish above all of those teams to get top 4, when it’s fairly possible that you might only need to finish above one of them.

Furthermore, the aforementioned 74 points under Ole would’ve been enough to get you top 4 in any of the past three seasons, and many more besides.

Do you honestly think it’s such a big ask to expect the team to be able to return to Ole-era results?

The doom-mongers are crapping themselves over a relatively modest objective.
