Following Anthony Martial's injury, it seems more likely that Erik ten Hag will involve Anthony Elanga against Brighton, instead of Cristiano Ronaldo, but that would likely mean starting Marcus Rashford at centre-forward with Jadon Sancho on the left #mulive [@TelegraphDucker]

I pray this doesn’t happen. Elanga is pretty tidy at times and has pace to at least occupy a defender and give them something to think about, but he’s not hugely productive in numbers from the left OR the right.

If Sancho has looked like our most dangerous player every time he’s played pre season on the right, I would hope ETH doesn’t move him to the left just to accommodate Elanga. It’s like losing the threat of Martial and Sancho instead of just Martial.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes I don’t get why we would move Sancho to the left. We’ve played all of pre season with Rashford left and Sancho right. Unless he goes with Garnacho which is unlikely we should probably go with Elanga down to the middle and keep some bit of continuity.

Seeing as though ETH is trying to turn us into Ajax United, can we also wear their kits?

It’d be a lot of pressure on Elanga starting him up top on opening day.

But it’d make more sense to me to start Rashford centrally and Elanga on the left, rather than shift Sancho across. Elanga played more minutes on the left for the junior sides than anywhere else.

I’m sure they’d all switch as the game goes but it’s a far more familiar front 3 for them having had pre season playing like that than a rigid 2 out wide with Ronaldo in the middle and likely dropping deep. Just like to see Sancho predominately on the right.

I would save Ronaldo who’s had little pre season for the 65/70 minute mark to come on.

Ronaldo has 45 mins of football in him in pre-season. Id rather Elanga or Rashford with one of them on the left.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Elanga! Jesus wept
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the level of hatred for Ronaldo. I have nothing against the kid, really like him and thought he was better than Rashford and Sancho last season. Very soon comment about energy/ pressing will follow
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not hatred. Ronaldo hasn't had a pre-season. If he had then I think we all start him ahead of Elanga. You don't seem to have the ability to see anything other than black or white. Just because we don't want to see Ronaldo starting games doesnt mean we hate him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What an idiot. Have you read my comment where I said his backside should be on the bench and for him to shut his mouth.

Thought not because you are one of the imbeciles that would have people believe I support the guy blindly.

I support him because what we have are players thinking they are too big and they have achieved sweet all. Even Sancho jury is still out, he may stink the place this season just like last. Kagawa had Sancho numbers let me remind you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I was specifically responding to your post where you basically laughed at the idea that Elanga should start ahead of him, then suggested that people must hate Ronaldo for suggesting this. But you agree that he should be on the bench? You're all over the place mate. You are mental.

No-one hates Ronaldo (apart from one or two posters, who are uncomfortable over the rape thing). We all appreciate that he was a great player - maybe the greatest. But he wants out and doesn't really suit our new manager's style of play. The fact that you project this idea that we must hate Ronaldo simply because we do not agree with your opinion is infantile beyond belief.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What a plonker.

Due to his actions and him hardly playing any pre season I thought yes he should sit on bench and shut his mouth.

With Martial out, yes I laughed at idea of Elanga starting. This is Ronaldo I will still start him first 45 ahead of Elanga. This is a new day, players don't go on holiday and come back unfit, especially Ronaldo

Even a couple of weeks of pre season makes a difference between top athletes. That’s why we got fckin spanked by Palace the other year when we’d had a much shorter pre season, we looked like a league 2 side in terms of fitness compared to them. It’s why many pre season games despite them being played at a friendly pace, if another team is 1 or 2 weeks ahead fitness wise it shows.

I'd rather play Bruno wide with Eriksen at 10 than start Elanga

I fear that Ronaldo especially how he operates now days would be a passenger against a side like Brighton who press the ball and hassle you all game anyway. We have to match their output across the whole field as a minimum because we’re not good enough yet to beat teams otherwise. Save Ronaldo and bring him on later.

ETH's more intense training could result in more injuries. We will need a squad that can cope with that.

Ok, so you initially agreed that he should be on the bench, partly because of not having a pre-season, then you laugh at the suggestion that Elanga should start ahead of him due to the fact that he hasn't had a pre-season? And then claim that it shows that people hate Ronaldo because they believe Elanga should start ahead of him? Like I said, you're mental. And stupid.

Telles has gone anyway, even if it is just a loan
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And we’re paying all of his wages. Bizarre.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Really?
I was hoping as a club we’d be getting away from this kind of stupidity
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Romano mentioned Sevilla are paying us €2m for his loan deal, not sure how much of his salary that covers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And Luckhurst says Sevilla are covering all of his wages but with no obligation to buy.

The BBC says the same.

Sunday? Thank God they won’t ruin the WHOLE weekend then…
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you picked another team to support then this might not happen to you in the first place.

Just a thought.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Or the overpaid jesters could earn their obscene salaries instead of bumbling about like a bunch of dossers week after week.

Wouldn’t that be a sight.
