Probably a financial decision, spending a lot of money on other areas and to have to go and buy another RB/CB in the same window is probably an issue.

i could take it to the board of the team you support, but it really is only apparant that it is anyone but Chelsea. Big up who do you support, probably spurs.
So my understanding is that Tuchel and the club felt Barca were taking the mick out of us with their low ball offer for Azpi and cited the price that they paid for Koulibaly as an example of a defender of similar age.
Now while it is true that Azpi no longer offers a very significant attacking threat as WB he showed last season that even as his powers wane he is still a very good defender and certainly an excellent squad option.

Retaining a player that is a hindrance to our progress and dynamic of the team on £180,000 per week and was actively seeking a way out of the club is the bigger issue.
This was the Ideal time for a completely fresh start, instead we've got a manager prioritising a spent force.
