1: got rid of dean henderson, worst keeper stats wise in history.
2: got the Hag
3. New manager bounce

New manager, better coaching and tactics, new signing look good, should get more out of current players than last season

Our players are better than most. So they need a proper plan and confidence.
The manager will give them the first, which will give them the second.

Biggest reason for optimism is Eric Ten Hag... 100% believe in him being the right man

You should be optimistic. You have a good manager, after the dreadful RR the only way is up. Quite how far u is a different question.

Title challengers if we win, relegation candidates if we lose, mid table mediocrity if we draw. This game is HUGE and will define our whole season. Until the next game.

I’m mildly optimistic. Been an average transfer window so far and if it remains this average it’ll be a long season, but at the very least we should see the players - even if they suck - look well trained. Should be a novelty as while I rated Jose more than most and feel he did a pretty good job - the players didn’t really look hugely organised. Under Ten Hag that will be different.

I’ll go to my grave feeling we should have brought in Conte but if Ten Hag is backed we may well take the step forward we’ve needed since SAF left

Currently just 1 point behind Liverpool.

Not a bad start.

Win our next three games and we'd be five ahead of them!

Two things I think are very likely are us being better to watch and Maguire to improve a lot. He was so poor last season but I thought he was one of the best centre backs in the league in 20/21 - and stats also back that up.

In terms of the transfer side of things, it hardly matters who the manager is, we'll always suck at that. They were trying to get Michael Keane's brother in to negotiate during this very window ffs (Chelsea presumably beat us to his signature). They don't have a clue

Ronaldo is the solution when he is on the bench, until he comes on, then he's the problem.

Based on how shiiiiiite this window has been, Conte would have taken off by now. He would not have accepted this, nor would he have been diplomatic about it

People said the same about Levy and Conte beat him into submission. I’m sure he wouldn’t have had any issues getting money out of our club as no other managers have been hamstrung

There was nothing to beat though, have they spent more than 50 million this year net? Their biggest signing being a quintessential Levy signing (young british signing that is easily sellable). Lets just say he has Kane and Son added to kulushevski is enough for Conte to challenge so no noises. He certainly wont have been quiet if he had Martial and a wantaway ronaldo as his top 2 strikers.

I’m certain if he came in last October that we would have made the CL and he’d have gotten all the players he wanted. There’s no reason to believe our club is the reason Ten Hag hasn’t gotten who he’s wanted. He may just be obstinate about wanting FDJ and is prepared to wait.

There's no reason. Apart from the fact that none of our managers EVER get the players they want and several have been quite outspoken about that fact. Unless Conte is actually negotiating and brokering the deals (he isn't) he'd wind up very disappointed by the mechanisations at United

Managers all hated Levy until Conte rocked up. Sometimes it takes a strong manager to force the hand of the club. We have no Ed now anyway so perhaps Conte would have enjoyed working with Arnold more than other managers did with Ed. It’s done now and we messed up not getting a guy who I think will get Spurs challenging for the title this season. Hopefully Ten Hag proves me wrong

I don't doubt Conte's ability at all. But I just think thid club is a disaster in terms of transfers and decision making. And unfortunately most of the signs this summer are that getting rid of Ed whilst keeping his minions hasn't changed all that much
