Very impressed with him. He’s so young as well. Looks really good value

Also really liked Adams.

I know both have played for Marsch before but they will be starters for any manager if Marsch needed replacing for whatever reason.

Agree. Couldn’t help but to be impressed by him. There was also a tinge of Lee Bowyer about him with a few late runs into the pen area - hopefully that can continue

He’s not Pablo but he’s our new baller for sure. Loved him in pre season and Saturday just continued for him. Once he’s up to speed we will see him for 90 minutes I’m sure.

Also impressed with Roca although he had a quieter game, for him, on Saturday. No rash challenges this time out.

In fact all four buys were pretty solid imo.

A14 he reminded me of Bowyer in his prime too - I said same on Saturday,

I couldn't get a link for the weekend

Where did we actually play him?

Thought he was fantastic. Watching the game I got
knackered following his constant runs. He has that
ability to be exactly where he needed to be at any
given point in the game.

I know Mes was MOM (and he looks even better
this season which is saying a lot), but BA was a close
second. Incredible.

I said during the match day that he is the difference
maker we needed after losing Raph. He also has
the dynamism of Pabs. Albeit different attributes.

In other words, hell of a signing who I think will
replace Raph quite nicely, in that other teams now
have a headache to take care of.

I also think Roca/Adams, and Raz look to be big
upgrades. And unlike the scaremnogering last
season, Marsch's system produced some good
football.

Everywhere. It was nuts how much ground he covered.
Technically, he was the right side attacking mid.

I saw one view of the goal that was from directly behind Aaronson, maybe an onfield camera on a wire…looked like the defender played the ball onto Aaronson’s shin.

Thought Palace really missed Gallagher at the weekend.

Then he sits on the Chelsea bench most of their match.
Wondering if he'll regret sticking around Chelsea?

Will be really interesting to see where BA, Rodrigo and Sinisterra all fit in.

What a game he had.

This side is full of energy, I hope we keep it going and stay injury free, because we’ll do alright.

How key is Bamford too. With it without goals his pressing from the front is so important to this team.

Watched the game again this morning. The antics of
Wolves are embarrassing. Clown show. Neves in
particular as we all know, took the cake. God awful.

It is great having Bamford back. He looked full go.
Not like he's trying to protect himself. He may well
get injured this season. Hope not. However, he
makes such a huge difference while we have him.

And it was a definite penalty on Sa. Not sure how
the ref, linesman, and VAR could all miss it. We all
know if it was Mes on Neves, it would've been a
stone wall. And Neves would've acted out his own
death in the box up to the decision.

And by my count only two square pegs: Llorente at
LCB and Struijk at Left Back. Both did just fine though.
And the time has way more balance (granted one
game as evidence isn't a compelling argument).

Ref watched criticised it heavily today. Said that keepers get far to much protection and it needs sorting out as he clearly misses the ball and hit the player about to head it.

Why are people so down on Llorente, he was no worse than Koch and made one tackle that prevented a goal scoring opportunity. Yes he isn't a LCB, you need to ask why he played there and not Koch and not Struijk.

Beg to differ on that. He had a good game
by his standards. But, of our top four CBs,
he's the one with a disaster in him.

"Yes he isn't a LCB, you need to ask why he played there and not Koch and not Struijk."

Because Struijk is currently our best option at left
back (Llorente can't play left back). Koch is currently
our best RCB/CB in general. If you can play your
strongest CB where he prefers, you do it. Hence
Llorente played at LCB.

Llorente for me is our fourth best CB at the moment.

1. Koch (26)
2. Struijk (22)
3. Coops (30)
4. Llorente (28)

If I was Marsch I'd be begging Orta to land a good
left back asap so that I could pair Koch & Struijk
and get them games together so that they can build
their relationship. And they're our two youngest of
the four mentioned. They could be our paring for the
next 5 years.

Interesting how varied the opinions on our centre backs are.

If I had to rank them on historical basis it would be Cooper llorente Koch struijk.

Struijk appeared to have a confidence crisis during last season and was a complete car crash. I like him, he’s young he was good previously and I do believe he will come through as a good player in this or future seasons… hopefully this season.

Koch is a good footballer but he has never (yet) demonstrated that he’s capable of being a good premier league centre half. He admitted himself last year that he had had to bulk up to cope with the speed and strength of premier league strikers. Last year he didn’t get game time at CB, maybe he has now adapted and will be the player we hoped he could be… but the jury is really out.

Llorente is good footballer and decent defender but sh*t in the air so is ok if he plays with others who can deal with crosses .

Coops still has the odd calamity moment but they are way fewer than they used to be,. He can get exposed for pace, but he organises and galvanises the rest of them.

We have 4 centre halves but personally I think it’s a relative weak point of the team. It’s not been an easy position to play for Leeds to be fair with the way both bielsa’s and marsch’s tactics can leave them exposed.

Just my take. Hoping to see them prove me wrong this year… with a string of clean sheets.

Those numbers are wrong. Aaronson did have 31 pressures and 12 successful pressures - but successful pressures does not count the number of times a player directly won the ball from a pressure - rather, a pressure is deemed successful if the team gained possession within 5 seconds of that individual player pressing an opposition player.

Doucoure and Partey had 13 and 14 successful pressures respectively - but 24 and 27 total pressures each. So Aaronson was not actually at double the pressures of any other player.

Most total pressures this weekend:

1 - Aaronson (31)
2 - Moore (30)
3 - Jensen (29)
4 - Ayew (28)
4 - Formals - (28)

Most successful pressures this weekend:

1 - Partey (14)
2 - Doucoure (13)
3 - Aaronson (12)
3 - White (12)
5 - Palhinha (11)
5 - Willock (11)

Llorente makes me nervous…even when there is a simple pass on and he’s under no pressure. He always seems to be grappling with opponents, probably because he lacks pace. He does seem to play for Spain regularly and hasn’t been found out. I just read Coady is off to Everton, makes sense…but he could have been a good acquisition for us.

He’d be terrible for us. Reason he Wolves are letting him go is because they want to move to a back 4 and he is almost exclusively a back 3 CB. Everton obviously filling up on Cbs to play 3-4-3/5-4-1this season.

posted on 9/8/22

I find it strange that Wolves have let him leave on loan like this. Surely you would want him around even as a back up. Strange all round. Strange club

posted on 9/8/22

I think they’re doing the right thing for a player who’s done so much for them. They’ve told him he ain’t getting game time because they want to move to a 4-2-3-1 and he’s asked to be allowed to find another club where he will play.

Like you say probably be better for Wolves if he stayed but you can’t knock the club for being considerate.
