Mctominay apparently beat him in almost every metric last season. More touches, passes, recoveries and better pass completion too incredibly.

Yeah we're in full blown panic mode buying dossers like this. Rather stick with what we have and play the kids.

He can actually take the ball on the half turn and beat a press, which is something lacking in the central midfield area. He’s strong and isn’t too bad at winning the ball. But he just doesn’t ever seem to have much of an impact in matches when I’ve seen him over the years, and if anything has regressed from the promising player he was at PSG.

The bar is low with this midfield, so he can offer something but I’m not sure it’ll be in anything more than a squad role.

As someone to bolster the squad, he could possibly be a good addition. If he is the main CM signing, then it's not too exciting, but will hope ETH sees something that we don't. It could also be paper gossip leaked by us to get Barca to move. Let's see.

Also, those stats doing the round are just based on one season, right? I'd be interested to see a less cherry picked set of stats (even if the outcome is the same)... But he must have something to play for PSG, Juve and France.

On average he completed 2.5 progressive passes per game, putting him in the bottom 12% of midfielders in europe

Stats can be misleading though I suppose. Bruno had decent stats last season but he wasn't great. If he signs let's hope he's put his problems behind him and does well.

Let's not forget that he's a long term top red too. He celebrated our win v PSG in 2019 whilst he was with (checks notes)...PSG.

It's not even his ability (or lack of) that worries me, it's more what I've heard about his attitude and his nightmare of a mum agent. Last thing this club needs is a priiick coming in and causing more unrest.

I saw an old post where a PSG fan listed all the issues he had at the club, just sounded like a miserable ungrateful twaaat who threw his toys out the pram when things didn't go his way and he'd go crying to his Mum, but for some reason the PSG owner always liked him.

Savage and De Gea will get on well with him.

I havent really watched him since he left PSG, but didn't Rabiot spend a fair bit of time playing at left wing back last season? Probably worth noting when you bring up stats to compare him with other central midfielders.
