Wake up and stop calling people daft every time their thinking is not same as yours.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are creating your own reality here... Show me where I have called anyone daft.

I'm just trying to think of the various scenarios and variables at play here rather than just defaulting to "We're doooomed".
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not the big signings any of us wanted... But it seems a bit daft to write them off imho, especially Rabiot.

You definitely need to wake up

If we are going down the route of wording, then I apologise for suggesting people are a bit daft for judging a player before they've even signed, let alone kicked a ball.

Maybe it's dawned on ETH that Fdj and a forward won't be enough with our budget, so maybe we'll be targeting cheaper players to fill the number of problem areas.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Perhaps the penny has finally dropped and he’s finally caught up and realised Fdj doesn’t want to join us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rabiot isn't an alternative though, he's a different type of midfielder.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
An average midfielder, posting average stats in weaker leagues coming to join mcshiiit and Fred
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm reading that Rangnick recommended Konrad Laimer before he left.

Do not apologise, a lot of these people are daft.

I see most people making the manager blameless on this. Say what you want about the scouts and upper management but if a Klopp was in change, no such sh1tshow would ever happen. ETH has a big say on who is coming and he totally messed it up and his lack of experience at a high level really shows.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Look at Klopp's first signing here. Hardly stellar!

https://www.lfchistory.net/Transfers/ByManager/28/1
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I beg to differ, especially if we ignore January and look at his first summer signings.

Player Club Fee Date
Marko Grujic Red Star Belgrade £5,100,000 6 January 2016
Steven Caulker Queens Park Rangers On Loan 12 January 2016
Kamil Grabara Ruch Chorzow £250,000 15 January 2016
Sadio Mané Southampton £30,000,000 28 June 2016
Loris Karius Mainz 05 £4,700,000 1 July 2016
Joël Matip Free Transfer Free 1 July 2016
Ragnar Klavan Augsburg £4,200,000 20 July 2016
Alex Manninger Free Transfer Free 22 July 2016
Georginio Wijnaldum Newcastle United £25,000,000 * 22 July 2016
----------------------------------------------------------------------
None of those stand out as stellar at the time though. Most of them didn't do well but Mane, Matip and Wijnaldum certainly ended up being excellent players for you. The transfers would have been questioned at the time though I'm sure.

It has been a shocking transfer window and I’m sure even the most positive supporter can admit that whether it’s ETH or the people above him, the whole thing has been a shambles, which looks even worse as we actually seemed to start well by getting Ten Hag in nice and early and had Ralf seemingly prepare some kind of dossier of what to do next.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
But Rangnick was never going to be heading up our transfer window. He was a consultant. His legend has grown each day because things haven’t gone to plan this summer. One particular one being that he was sacked because of the comments he made about the work the club need to do.

The issue, as I understand it, was than Ten Hag and Rangnick just have differing visions for how to build teams. Now it obviously begs the question as to whether or not the Dutchman has the requisite capacity to build a successful team in the premier league, but Rangnick has never had to it either given his expertise has been in clubs that are built to be feeder clubs.

You know my issue about the obsession with young players playing in a team together being a better option than a collection of players on a broader scope. Rangnick has never shown he knows how to do that to have a team competing with the very best clubs on a consistent basis.

And just because he likes high pressing and high energy football, doesn’t mean his ideas align with Ten Hag’s, something that is apparent the deeper you scratch the surface over what they want from their teams - it’s like saying Pep and Klopp, for example, would construct similar teams just because ‘energy and pressing’, something they both value.

If the club aren’t wanting to align with a blueprint over how the team should play and what players fit into that, what is the point of Rangnick’s presence as a consultant when he doesn’t align with it?
