I think we’ve seen how the U23s struggled against League One opponents, so the argument is definitely there for fielding an XI a balanced mix of first team players.

We're not in Europe, heading to Wembley nor are we playing 46 gruelling championship matches. No reason why we shouldn't play a near full strength side. 2 or 3 extra cup games aint going to hurt us over a season.
I would like to see us start with a full side out in all cup game. This club has a pathetic cup record - even under Revie it was not as good as it should have been. Since the 80s it truly has been garbage.
We havent been in the Fa Cup quarter finals since 2003, the semi finals since 1987 and the final since 1973.
We havent been in the League Cup quarter finals since 2017, the semi finals or final since 1996.
I am of the belief that winning games of football breeds a higher level of confidence. A good cup run can lift the players and fans and is financially rewarding.
Kids should play for the first team if they earn it and are good enough (league or cup) not because we want to give them a chance or want to avoid injuries. We have had loads of training injuries under Marsch.
How about we get a 2-3 goal lead against Barnsley and then put 5 kids on.

100% right Kebab - as great as Revie’s team was, that team was probably the most underachieving team ever in British football. But at least we used to reach the latter rounds of knockout comps - whereas since the eighties we’ve been truly pathetic. It’s a new era - maybe things are about to change.
