The Glazers will sell if offered a price that exceeds their projected medium-term earnings from dividends / future sale. The only reason they would cling on regardless is if they believe the club's revenues are destined to continue to rise. With financial performance stuttering under their stewardship, major doubts about the viability of a European super league, and grave problems in the global economy more generally, I don't think they can make that assumption the way they may have done five years ago.

That's not to say a sale is likely. I think they will sell for the right price, but also that a buyer motivated by business considerations will look at the same factors I've listed above and value the club relatively conservatively.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’d imagine having an asset like United to be able to borrow against would heavily enter into their thinking.

Lol relax, its not going to happen. People need to realise there's only a handful of people that can afford to buy United.

The Saudi's were probably the most realistic before they went ahead and got Newcastle.

Other than that you're looking at the likes of Musk or Bezos and yeah don't think they want to drop 10bn on United right now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You don’t need £4bn to buy United. It cost the Glazers next to nothing to acquire the club.

You need to persuade a bunch of investors to join you and/or financial institutions to be prepared to loan you the money.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've often wondered whether someone like David Beckham could get involved. He'll have loads of connections and maybe he'd love to be the figurehead of a consortium?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He’s probably spunked most of his money into Inter Miami
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm thinking of that as some kind of stepping stone. Probably wishful thinking but someone like him leading something would get the fans on board right away. He'd also, hopefully, know to recruit proper football people. Hell, he could even get involved himself. Think of the Insta numbers a players would get working with Becks.*

*I know that's a bit sad but the reality is some players will be thinking of things like that.

Given how tone deaf some of these American billionaires are they’d probably get Ryan Giggs to be the face of the consortium.

To be fair to Giggs he does move on quickly if things aren't good enough...

Wish the fans could buy them out. The club is obviously self sufficient. It just needs good guidance starting from a decent director of football. The only reason we will need a billionaire to buy us is because they are the 9nly ones who can afford us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

My biggest fear with a fan owned team is that some individuals like the characters on this board would have a say.

That would be more damaging than the Glazers

Same sort of number I was thinking. Do not see anyone outside the Saudis, Qataris or Emiratis forking out that kind of cash.

It has tanked but this is nothing to be worried about as we are in a bearish market. The stock plummeting is not united specific

Why do you think this is? I believe fans can do this at Barcelona, however they have to buy 10% of the clubs worth at any given time. (1)People that have that sort of money are not here. (2) You don't accumulate that much, in general, being incompetent.

Half of the people around the world who have that kind of money have inherited it, and not accumulated it. There are plenty of wealthy dunderheads about.

Most wealthy people that exist in the world are not self made.

Making money does not also mean you can run a football club. Remember Ed Woodward.

A club owner has to be passionate about the club but not let emotions get the better of them.

But my response was more individuals similar to this board.

Regarding wealth, I suppose that depends entirely on your definition of 'wealth.' But most millionaires in UK and the USA are self made people. Regular teachers and accountants.

Another thing, anyone that thinks Ratcliffe isn't just as big a cvnt as the Glazers hasn't done their homework on him or INEOS.

Imagine Musk!

Old Trafford would be renamed the DogeCoin Arena. There would be half time shows with a big screen showing his favourite memes of the day.
