Marsch said post match about getting squad players fitter so he can use them. So its a squad depth issue atm
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There has been a squad depth issue for at least two seasons, a central striker and a left back are still needed. Keep the players the club has already got, for at least a season. The club want to stop trying to get away with putting square pegs into round holes.
A full pre-season is not long enough to bed new players in. Anyone who thinks that it is, should keep to being involved with a suburban tennis club and leave a high level football club to the people who know what they are doing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
grey whos alt are you
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Someone with many accounts, it’s hard to keep track
----------------------------------------------------------------------
One account, I do not need multiple accounts to express my opinion, just tell me what I have written which is wrong. It is not much to ask. You should not judge people by your own standards. It is easy to do how many accounts do you have?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Never seen anyone on here wh is so defensive from the get go and comes out with the old chestnut iv been watching leeds for blah blah blah. We all have and im convinced you are an alt account trying to wind up people
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry you are wrong, which in large part is your problem. You are one of those people who think anything you believe must be true. I just write what i think. Throughout history people like you attack people and ideas that contradict your very limited world view.
You do not need to be wound up, because you are already wound up. In a world where numerous people are suffering, you need to chill out. Your response is so predictable, you are too easy. I was just making a comment, which you seem to be unable to refute. I feel sorry for what happened to Salman Rushdie, it is unacceptable. I wonder can you connect the dots.

I reckon that by the time we play Man U away they will be a different beast.

The histeria surrounding their abysmal start will have subsided somewhat and no doubt there will be 4 or 5 new Man U players brought in.

Their owners will be soiling themselves atm, so there will be no chicken counting from me and a win of any description at Old Trafford will be much treasured after our last 2 visits and if you offered me a point now I'd willingly take it.

The problem at Manchester United is historic and the ordinary fans there question the business alleged practices of their owners. They see something they value falling to bits before their eyes. I think that it gone past the performance of the team. they want shut of the owners of their club full stop. They feel used, cheated and they want them gone full stop. A few good results is not going to change that. There ordinary fans look at their stadium, which they feel is falling to bits, water pouring on them, when it rains. The green and yellow shirts they wear is not trivial. The alternative football club numbers of them support is a sign of a deeper thing, The supporters of Leeds have gone through a similar thing.

Correct, and we’d do well to recall Arsenal’s abysmal start last season, and subsequent recovery.

The business model for Manchester United requires Champions league football every season, which is why there was the fans revolting, demonstrating at Old Trafford, a time when fans from a lot of clubs came to billy's statue to protest.
Barca has sold television rights for years to come to get around being a billion in debt. If it goes wrong at Barca they will be hell to play. To the owners it is not about football, it is about making money full stop. With all due respect you are no student of history.

Shocking news: Bamford's injured. Two games in.
I mean Jesus Christ. If the board don't hear alarm
bells ringing now they never will.

I know most of us don't give a monkeys about Man U and their struggles although a feeling of Schadenfreude does fill many of our hearts.
However the spat between Jamie Redknap and Gary Neville I found to be interesting as Neville blamed the club's misfortunes on their American owners and Redknap said the bulk of the blame for Man U misfiring so regularly was due to the players not being fit for purpose.
It is clearly as we experienced under some shocking owners and players a combination of both.
I thought when Man U fans turned their noses up at the prospect of signing Anautovicjh they would end up looking silly because even at 31 he is a prescence and would have been a useful target man.
I certainly wouldn't mind him at Leeds and there is still time for the owners to get him signed up in time for him to come off the bench at OT in September and score the winner for us!!!!

Is it possible to be very encouraged but very disappointed at the same time?

Thought we played really well for 70 minutes considering we had no striker on the pitch for 50 of it.
Thought the whole side contributed positively and we looked really solid apart from a couple of counter attacks. Very encouraging.

Very disappointing with the lack of proactive approach from Marsch. The result did appear to be a direct result of freshness v fatigue in that last 20 minutes. At the 2-0 water break I turned to the family and said I know we are playing well and in control but I would be bringing on 3-4 fresh legs now. We have senior players on the bench, it’s hot. Game changed with those fresh legs from Southampton. It was obvious to me at 2-0 what was needed, it was really really obvious at 2-1 what was needed and for whatever reason Marsch let the three points evaporate.

It is an encouraging start though. The signings look half decent, the team are really fighting for the cause and appear a happy unit. We look like being competitive which for me was the first target of the season.

Love Adams who does so much off the ball work and ball winning.
Love Brenden who looks a top quality player.
Roco for the money appears a decent acquisition.
Rasmus needs to up his game but it’s early. Can see Ayling getting his shirt back from what I’ve seen so far.

Surely we won’t have to suffer another season without Bamford and no proper replacement. Have Radz and the Board learnt nothing from last season?

It’s strange. Comments from fans during the pre-season games were all praising Kristenson and what a great buy he was, but since the start of the season proper he is being criticised. Hopefully he improves as the season progresses, but Firpo didn’t improve last season. I hope Kristenson is not another Firpo.

Don't fans always rave about new players in pre-season?

Always worth waiting till season proper to assess their playing ability for our team.

Kristenson looked really solid in pre season both on the deck and in the air but I failed to see any attacking qualities in him that justified the goals tally of last season. Thought his distribution was average in pre season.

In the 2 games to date he hasn’t offered much at all going forwards and appeared to miss a sitter at the back post corner in the first half today.
Distribution has continued to be average. It was his poor pass that set up one of Southampton’s first half dangerous counter attacks.
Defending unfortunately he made many mistakes in the game against Wolves. The first goal he was out muscled by tiny Neto. Second half was a number of scuffed clearances but got that goal saving tackle in.
Today carded and struggled a few times with
Djenepo.
Early days though.

For us, it seems that foreign players do take a whole to settle in, but I'm a believer that if you're quality, it doesn't matter where you've come from.

I think this is a big step up for him and he doesn't quite look at the races yet.

Great that we have proper back up for Ayling now and actually great that he gets some games under his belt, but would be expecting Ayling to regain his place unless Kristensen has serious uptake in form, but also depends on if team are winning, for if they are, dont see Marsch changing it.

posted on 14/8/22

I don’t think Ayling should walk back into the team - legend though he has been for us, he’s a Championship-level player who’s also past his best.

posted on 14/8/22

Personally, I hope Kristensen will find his feet. I saw some good stuff from him pre-season, but the Prem is perhaps a big learning curve for him. I see mistakes, but also some skills, unlike Firpo who just seems completely out of his depth.

As for today, agree that Marsch lost it for us with lack of subs. He should have refreshed the team on the hour mark given the heat out there. We might have held on for the win if he had. Have to say though that the pass from Mara for their second goal was impossible to counter. It was what we so often are missing.

posted on 14/8/22

A few words on Llorente, he comes in for a lot of stick but of the two CB's Marsch is putting Koch in his natural position and playing Llorente slightly out of position. A perfectly timed tackle last week and one again this week.

First thing to say is that we won a point away from home in +30 heat - I'd have taken that before the game.

Second, it was obvious from last week's win that we need fresh legs on after 60 mins, and that was without the extreme temperatures. I thought Marsch really screwed up on the substitutions yesterday, and although he mentioned it, he didn't really take responsibility for it in his post-match interview, which is disappointing. The James substitution did not really make any sense at all. Marsch was tactically outsmarted, in fact.

Third, that through ball for Saints' equaliser was a peach, like Leedsfan says.

Fourth, Rodrigo's on a roll - very, very good news, considering Bamford's already sputtering and no striker has been signed! I hope Joseph will be given an opportunity this season at some point as he looks a pretty good prospect.

Fifth, we didn't lose - the same fixture last year was, as I recall, deeply depressing. Indeed, we dominated the first hour of play.

Sixth, Man U got tonked by Brentford!

All in all, not a bad weekend!

posted on 14/8/22

Would have preferred Rod not to have pinched Pascal's goal, we all know that despite what it says on the score sheet that that was going in and therefore Rodrigo didn't need to touch it. Struijk constantly looks a threat from a dead ball situation but misses a few headers, this may have raised his confidence.

posted on 14/8/22

Speaking of corners, I really hate short corners, see little or no point in them and invariably they come to nothing for us. At the dead, why did they opt for a short corner. Long corner and get Mes up.
