Derby County 2 - 1 Wycombe Wanderers

For me I was a bit surprised when Collins was on the bench yesterday... as NML... but he's carrying an injury apparently. I thought we improved immensely when they came on and whatever Collins deficiencies maybe he puts himself about and McGoldrick looked better with Collins there too. I think the lack of goals is a team problem. The crosses that go in rarely seem to pick out a Derby player and often we don't get players in the box in any quantity when we do get a cross in. Equally we're usually facing a packed defence which means there's little space and any shots that go in tend to be like a pin ball game.

Collins is not the most prolific in the world but he has scored some good goals at every club he has been with.
Mind you, they probably weren't on his back as quickly as some are since he came here.

The day when opinions on a given player do not differ is the day when football ceases to exist as a sport. But if the likes of Clough and Rosenior, Cox and Smith determine a player has value to his team, then who are we, who have never been on a coaching course never mind actually played in a professional game, to disagree? Of course we will continue to claim that manager X and/or player Z are clueless!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you believe that Rosenoir wouldn't want someone better than Collins if he could afford them? I always look at what a player adds to the team and right now Collins is adding very little.

How many times does he win an aerial challenge? How many times does he hold the ball up to bring in other forwards in to play? Does he win many free kicks because the defender tackles him from behind? Does he have pace to outrun the defenders when the ball is played behind the defence? Does he take up good positions when we are in possession. I think you all know the answer to these questions.

I remember a lot of those criticisms being levelled at CM by certain fans, apart from the winning fouls bit, obvs.
In fairness to Spart, he did score plenty of goals for us though....eventually

I can understand having different opinions on players but it's hard to understand the relentlessness of the negativity by some of us towards this or that individual, the refusal to accept any positive facet to their play. It's as if there is something missing from their lives if they haven't got a Derby player to hate. Curious.

Well said, Desi, Terry and Vidal! Once some fans decide player A is useless there is nothing that player can do to change minds. I always heard fans moaning about McGovern for instance, no matter what he did.

Re Desi's point I remember Cloughie saying that if there was a better centre-half than McFarland out there he would go out and sign him.

Re Collins I suspect he would be more effective in a front two rather than playing on his own up front. Whatever, I would much prefer him to be in the team than not. I would say the same about McGoldrick but I'm not sure how best to accommodate them both when LR's style of play is pretty well set in stone.

A new chant had an airing yesterday;

"Going up to the spirit in the sky
Gonna see Cloughie and Dave Mackay
Gonna reminisce and have some fun
About the two league titles that we won"

Could be this season's song.

I’m wondering what Spart will be doing tomorrow whilst everyone else in the UK enjoys a bank holiday. Obviously he’ll be rejecting the holiday on the same basis as he boycotted the game …

Every day is a holiday for Spart. He's a sponger off society. I'm going out for a walk over the Shropshire hills for the day, having no inclination to watch the funeral. I wonder how many others I will see?

It's a jolly holday with Spart, no wonder that it's Spart that we love. I will be walking in the Peak District as I usually do at these parasite adoring functions.

It's not a jolly holiday for thousands of the low paid self employed or those on zero hour contracts. The day will be another without income which is something they can't afford. Ok for Chucky Saxe-Coburg Gotha to say everyone should have a holiday to mourn his mum when you are living off the largesse of the state whatever happens, but when you are on a low income it is a different matter. He could perhaps use some of the 200 million he saved by just refusing to pay inheritance tax (the only person who can) to help out those his decision has affected.

Is that a euphemism or coy way of saying you picked some tiny hallucinogenic mushrooms, boiled them, drank it and could see Derby County winning the Premiership?

Or did I mis-understand? 🤔

Nope, sorry to disappoint, just the regular field mushrooms.

Delicious in a Sunday morning fry-up when cooked in the bacon fat. 👍🏻
