I’ve seen plenty of footage from back then, it was a genuinely liberal and cosmopolitan country. Sad that religion destroyed all that.

Some countries are crazy.

We don’t know how lucky we have it sometimes. In Ireland the biggest things right now are housing shortages and energy prices but it really puts things into perspective when you hear how mental other countries are.

I’d say religion is secondary, when you look at why and how these regimes come to power in that region there is always the fingerprints of decades of meddling from the USA, Britain, and other western countries. And then we sit here and talk about how backwards they all are.
