Think Bamford at the moment is a shadow of the player he was prior to his injury. Not sure but maybe the 100th goal is hanging over him like a cricketer in the 90's.
One of Bamford's greatest assets is his ability to hold onto the ball and bring team mates into play, that seems to have disappeared, or maybe Marsch doesn't recognise this and doesn't work on it in training.

I think Bamford needs time to get match fit.

But I think you have to look at his entirety at Leeds.

First season injuries and needs lots of chance to score.
Second season fit but needs lots of chances to score.
Third season fit but needs lots of chances to score.
Fourth season injuries.

What should we expect from him, could be goals, could be injuries....it's negligent to not have proper back up.

Now, was Rodrigo meant to be that backup when we signed him for 30 million?

I don't feel we have goals in us I'm afraid.

The most worrying part of all of this is that Marsch said he was pleased with the performance - even the second half. The Chelsea win papered over the cracks. Palace were woeful first half and they get one free-kick and score and advantage goes.

Do fear for us next week. The way Arsenal are attacking and pressing at the moment. Tough few weeks ahead

Don’t even know where to start.

Not enough physicality to impose ourselves on big strong sides like Palace today. Second half was a training match for them, hussle us off the pall, pass to centre back, pass to open centre mid, ping it to Zaha. He had an off today too. Then hold ball in corners and time waste with little done to stop it. Under Bielsa sides would have been calved open trying to do that.

Going forward once Bamford is knackered/off the field, there is nothing. Sides have figured out what we do and Harrison and Arronson were totally ineffective, there is nothing in the middle to aim for, so our attacks down the flanks we just get out manned.

After a promising start to the season, it makes you wonder if we’ve been figured out now, with no ideas for a plan b or c. There’s no Raphinha to drag us back into games this season.

Going to be a long, long season with a probable relegation fight again.

I like how Marsch says we take pride in set pieces, defending them think we lost every corner, attacking we were terrible, Harrison & Aaronson stand over the ball whisper in secret code and deliver nothing from them……. as long as we continue to ‘fight’ and ‘believe’ in the process - his interviews and buzzwords are getting slightly tedious for me

Got to agree about our lack of goal threat. We heard so much about how Bamford will get us the goals when he is back. People must have short memories as he has always missed lots of good chances. His injury record also means he never plays a full season anyway.
Relying on him as our main striker was and is a huge gamble and we have learned that Rodrigo is not the answer.
We are in for a long hard season I fear

Where does Stuart Dallas fit in this team when he's fit, assuming Firpo is fit by then too?

Thought the second half was depressingly toothless, Joffy's weak hit straight at the goalie being the only shot on target as far as I can remember.

Saw very little from Summerville.

Aaronson's running around looks so unstructured and manic at rimes with no end result - he needs to get used to having a good 90 minutes not 15 in the first half only.

Very concerned about Paddy, clearly well short of match fitness and as someone commented on the match thread,( Batty?) , he looks like he is not committing fully in challenges, stretching or jumping for the ball due to worry about getting injured. I do wonder if we have seen the best of him ( please please prove me wrong Patrick).

Palace have two or three good players going forward but are run of the mill elsewhere that's why it's so annoying seeing them looking like the only winners after 45 minutes.

Jessie has said several times that no one is going to out run us or out fight us - uhmm? Well sorry Jesse but they out footballed us in the second half and on balance deserved the 3 points.

We needed at least a point from this game as we will get nothing against Arsenal - Rasmus against Martinelli now that should be intetesting.

Plan B? I recall mentioning after the Chelsea game.

Here we are playing out my concern. I have a feeling the responses to that concern at the time were negative for a different reason.

Talking of Plan B, hopefully Marsch will pick up a few tips from this game.

The players need to be more efficient with conserving their energy.

First half…Palace were poor, scored from their only real chance. We had a lot of nice moves, didn’t creat much apart from the goal and a Bamford one on one.
Second half…Well, we never came back out of the dressing room, poor long before the subs and not much quality to bring on. 5 without a win, only 2 points from those games that didn’t look particularly difficult…worrying times!

Oh dear oh dear what’s going on .How can we win a match with two passengers namely Bamford and Harrison both playing rubbish if they get 20+ million from Newcastle for Harrison they should bite their hand off .I fear we are going to be in a relegation fight.Sick of it.

Yes, but what is he planning to next when when the other leg appears to be missing!

Same story
Lack a cutting edge upfront
Soft underbelly
It’s ok competing in the middle of the park but results come from what we do in the final thirds and unfortunately we have not been good enough.
Overall today we could have gained a point but the bamford miss is crucial along with two soft goals.

The set piece is defended to high with no retreat meaning we were as likely to score an own goal as they were scoring it with so many bodies running towards and facing our goal. The set up was all wrong

The second goal was painful. Wasn’t long ago I put a piece together about goals coming from not winning the first ball. Another long punted free kick goes unchallenged (again). A couple of passes later and it’s 2-1. Sick of this because it’s a basic issue isn’t being resolved.

Substitutes were baffling. It was almost as if Marsch was determined to get Summerville on for 30 minutes based on his presser midweek. Strange at 1-1 to make a change which resulted in 2 others needing to change position. Aaronson to cam where he has been ineffective so far and Rodrigo to striker where he’s ineffective at holding the ball up which was crucial today. Summerville loses his man at the free kick which puts enough doubt in Rasmus head that he can’t attack the first ball. Why not a straight Bamford - Joffy swap off Patrick can’t play more than 60?. We seemed to get worse after every substitute today.

After match comments are scary. If he thinks we are improving and getting closer to being wherever he thinks there is then I’m worried. If he thinks we were better after Summerville coming on then I’m worried. If he thinks that was a decent performance overall again I’m worried. Hot air baloney!!

The most worrying fact is that we have only 9 point from 8 games but we have played 6 of the bottom-ten so far so we have a lot of hard fixtures on the horizon.

Can only conclude with agreeing what most seem to feel. This is another relegation battle season. Last season we had all the luck in the world to keep us up. Looks like we will need the game again.

what luck ?

I actually thought we played well first half.

Second I thought we was all over shop, tactically and formation, I dont know what the hell happened and palace didnt have to do much to win.

Subs were a disgrace

Summerville just reminds me of Proveda. Comes on all the time and does absolutely nothing.

Have never rated Summerville, just don't understand why son many clamour fir him in first team

Adams for me is starting to become our most important player bit like Phillips in Bielsas first season, like if he is missing nobody really like him to fill in.

Yep, such a ridiculous statement is worth highlighting in a thread of its own.

Its starting to become a theme. A lot of huff and puff with no end product. Defensive mistakes still as well. I like Cooper but he did make mistakes today.

Made a few mistakes today, didnt actually think he was at fault for goal.

Was just a good goal

Wolves away - game drifting away from us. A silly red card and Leeds score 3 to get three points.

Well the Norwich winner.....Joffy has since admitted the header to Raphinha was pure luck. He wasnt even looking at the ball........last minute winner.

The Brentford game. Couldnt have asked for more luck. Home side down to 9-men in a must win game.

I thought the main ingredient Marsch brought us for the run in was a lot of good luck
