How much is the restoration likely to cost?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thankfully it was protected by glass, so only souperficial damage.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
thankfullycan't believe anyone's dumb enough to think an 80 million quid painting wouldn't be protected. criminal damage

I've been to many of the World's top art galleries, there's plenty of works not protected by glass.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
they're not originals. fakkin hell
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of couse not, that's why Picasso's 'Guernica' in Madrid is flanked by 2 armed guards.

Quite intersting, I went there about 4 yeaars ago and 'The Birth Of Venus' was only protected by a velvet rope and a sign saying 'do not touch' in a multitude of languages.

Well what's more likely, someone leaves an 80 million quid painting out for the public and has to fork out more in insurance than it would cost to come up with a copy where no-one could tell the difference.

Or someone comes up with a copy and tells everyone it's the original.

If you came to the conclusion it's the first then....

I didn't realise they were all fakes, even the sculptures and the frescos on the ceilings.

Seems like I wasted a day.
