Fredemiro is the way to play.

He had a few similarly effective performances over the last two seasons. Create a structure where he is free to rampage trying to win the ball high and he will be a net positive. I think it's the way ETH is getting the defensive structure of the team + improved personnel in DM that can consistently unlock the best version of Fred.

McTominay has always been the worst thing about Fred, let’s be honest.

There’s been a lot to indicate that Fred is best in the mid-high press, not as the number 6.

Casemiro looked like the Real Madrid version at last. Hopefully he’s found his feet.

Calm down, we don’t play Spurs every week.

Just a few weeks ago everybody said McTominay and Eriksen must start

To be fair a few weeks ago plenty were saying we should be looking at using the Fred+Casemiro partnership once Casemiro was up to speed.

Have I ever said how much I love South Americans at Utd?

He has shown glimpses of this during his time at the club but having the security of Casemiro really helps. He’s got the energy to play the b2b role but he still has the odd terrible pass/control in him.

Would be great to also have the control and calmness that Eriksen brings into the middle but I guess we can alternate depending on the opponents.

Fred’s put in a lot of performances like that, to be fair. They are usually in big games where we’ve played with intensity and looking to move the ball quickly in transition.

The security of Casimero helps, and of course we look more well drilled than we have in a long time out of possession, but I think Martinez has a big impact on us not being as exposed when Fred is given the freedom to push up high because Maguire just doesn’t play with the same aggression to close the space like he does.

Yeah Martinez has been fantastic so far, never gives the striker an inch of space, composed on the ball and always talking and motivating the other players. He’s like Rojo and Vidic’s love child but also better on the ball.

Yeah he’s excellent on the ball. I think we’ll see even more of it once we develop more as a team in possession as well. We’ve not seen as much of his switches of play and balls over the top yet.

Won a lot in the air yesterday too, or seemed to. Not much talk or 'banter' about his height recently from pundits or rival fans. Him and Varane forming a nice partnership and a much better foundation for the team to build attacks from.

We still have games were we are far too slow in moving the ball around, usually against the 'lesser' sides. Need to be able to motivate ourselves the same as last night.

His height was never the issue people made it out to be. You only needed a little bit of research to know that.

I think we are improving our build up play, but there’s obviously still plenty of issues that will take time and transfers to resolve.

The speed at which we move teams around, move the ball horizontally and getting it forward once we moved a team to create openings by going back is something we really need to improve.

Fred has extremely quick feet and moves the ball forwards with purpose. Not sure why he gets so much stick on here. Fred > Fernandes.
