Thoughts from tonight

Robin Koch was outstanding tonight and has gone under the radar. Holding our defence together

Well some of you watching Summerville were watching a different player to me. I saw see fighting for the ball a lot more these days. He’s clearly getting stronger little by little despite his relatively small stature; he’s still only 20, and playing in a struggling Premier League side, so his performances need context.

Quote of the week from my wife after Jimmy’s winner, ‘stop making that racket. The neighbours will think there is domestic abuse going on’

That reminds me. I wasn’t even 7 in the morning when Dallas got his winner at Man City. Not quite sure what the neighbours thought was going on at that time of morning…

Regarding Gnoto, I watch a slow motion replay, and there’s no doubt it was not poor defending as a perfectly placed pass into Bamford. Truly it looks even more classy now than at the time.

He showed the composure and skill today which should secure him a permanent place in the first team squad. As for Summerville’s finish, again, looking closely, you can see that he got his shot away so quickly; Van Dijk in fact didn’t have sufficient time to close him down. Cry’s shot caught both him and Allison cold.

Summerville played well, he's looking more and more useful. Lacks a bit of physicality and composure at times but he's a handful and a good squad option. Not sold on Roca, don't think he stands out unlike Adams who's like a little terrier biting your heels

Really happy with the winning feeling again tonight, especially as it was so unexpected. Jumping around the kitchen TV like a madman when the winner went in.

The strongest feeling though is one of relief. Three points that keeps hope alive that we might not be the league’s whipping boys after all…

However, I felt the same way after the Chelsea game, and look what happened after that. Based on sheer energy and commitment I thought we were worthy of the points at Anfield, but when your goalkeeper is Man of the Match a small dose of realism is required.

The real test of this team’s capability to improve and move away from the drop zone will come next week against Bournemouth at ER. I need to see the same commitment, energy and application against them and Tottenham following week before I’m prepared to change my opinion on Jessie Marsch being the right man for the job.

A great and memorable night for Leeds fans, but let’s see them perform to that level consistently before we start giving a manager (who so many on this board were writing off over the past few days) the credit his/his teams performances have hardly warranted.

I remain to be convinced - please, please prove me wrong Jessie.

Great points especially around motm.

It felt great after Chelsea too, but we have to do this in bread and butter matches.

The good thing is that we can see potential is there, if we didn't have that then real problems.

So many said board shouldn't dither, should sack him now and that is hugely unhelpful for the club. What doesn't help as well is AR keeping shtumm during run of bad results and suddenly, appearing on social media once we win.

Marsch has been nothing but positive about the owners and I feel he deserves proper public support in return.

Absolutely unbelievable result, but we’re not out of the woods yet.

I don't think anyone said it was.

What was poor was defending Summerville. Liverpool had 7 players in their own box, three around Summerville and just like for first goal they react too slowly.

Wasn't so well yesterday so had an early night. Woke up in middle of night to find out incredible and surprising news that we had won.

Watching it back a couple of points spring to mind about Summerville. Whilst he is undoubtedly raw and I hear some of the aspects he could do better, it is worth remembering how very few games he has played. Also we have and have had many players who have all the endeavour in the world but with little end product. What a refreshing change it is then to have a player that might not have as much of that endeavour (which I am sure he'll learn) but has end product and can finish and so early in his career.

Amazing rollercoaster result!

This bleak, frustrating run has been really tough - so I'm just going to bask in the sunlight of that vitally important win.

Well done to all at LUFC!

Now let's do it again on Saturday!

Every time I watched the u21s Summerville and Gelhardt looked a step above everyone else on the pitch.

having an even more forgettable game was Struijk who was berated a number of times by Cooper who was having to cover, but it's hard to blame Struijk when he's being played out of position.

I think you got Cooper and Struijk the wrong way round. Watching on MoTD again Struijk got Cooper out of jail a number of times. You always seem harsh on Struijk who has been one of our best players this season

Agree with this.

I think he’s too lightweight and at times ineffective, however, he has knack of being in right place at right time and I would hope with experience his game develops and if stature doesn’t limit him no one would be happier than myself.

Did you not see where I put that hard to castigate him when played out of position?

If you watch whole match you see Cooper having a go at home a few times but he’s not a left back and I feel he’s doing as well as he can there but reality is Liverpool got better of him yesterday.

He was better than Cooper yesterday and I like Coope but he nearly cost us at least two goals. Meslier saved him.

Would really like to see Struijk and Koch as a CB pairing and see what they do once we get a decent lb in!

And that’s beauty of sport we have different perspectives.

I really don’t know if we ever see that partnership.

Will Marsch trust Firpo enough?

I think Marsch would drop cooper , but hinges on who could be LB

Would you have said the same about Bremner or Strachan, Jonty? I thought Summerville was a real handful for Liverpool, especially in the second half. And this is just his second start.

Even Liverpool fan didn’t think he was that great.

Strachan and Bremner were playing age 17.

They were exceptional talents.

You do play cannot compare Summerville to these after he’s started 2 matches.

He’s had a great start but stop hyping him, it helps no one.

Of course the leagues that both players played in were of a much lower standard than the modern Premier league. Worth noting that Joffy made his full debut for Wigan as a 17 year old.
