It's not about hemispheres though. It's about actual summers. Most countries don't have the kind of differentiation between the seasons as they do in the Northern most parts of the world.

In fact, most countries don't give a fack when you host the world cup because the change in weather isn't significant enough to make a difference.

Well, I guess anywhere south of the tropic of cancer don't care about summer or winter as the difference is mostly insignificant as far too as football is concerned. But that also applies to few countries north of the tropic of cancer.

Only the Northern most parts are concerned about this because there is a big difference between summer and winter.

This is the WORLD CUP though, not the Northern cup.

Naah, two wrongs don't make a right. The world cup shouldn't be designed to favour or disfavour anyone. That should happen as a natural consequence of where it's hosted, and anyone with ability to host should get the chance to host, whether it's Ecuador with the high altitude or Maldives with the low altitude.

Why? Because it's the fecking world cup.

How far do you take it though? Somewhere likely to have a natural disaster, putting everyone at risk? Somewhere volatile like Syria or Iraq? Somewhere with disgraceful human rights records like Saudi Arabia, Qatar or North Korea? Would you honestly want to go to a world cup hosted in any of the above countries? No chance. So they hopefully never will be held there.
