England will pump Iran thus set them up nicely to get out of the group. Had England Iran last, it may have been a different story.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Are Iran the weakest team or do you just think the other two games might be more fiercely contested due to rivalry etc?

I see Iran shutting us out in a dour 0-0.

Wouldn't be surprised if ours was a group of 0-0 and 1-0 games. Has a similar feel to our 2010 group.

It's 28 degrees in Doha, what are people whining about the heat for?

It'll be far hotter at the next world cup.

Really?

I genuinely thought due to some moaning I’d read previously it was mid to late 30’s

It’s hot granted but surely South Africa was hotter ?!

Where’s the next one ?

Couldn’t give a flying f*ck.

Hope every team refuses to play and enjoys a month long holiday.

This....

And seeing as Striketwatt has failed to get admins to multi-board this...it's pointless as it just leaves the most under achieving teams in the premiership to voice an opinion

Next one is in USA, Mexico and Canada so lots of cities will be very, very hot. In 2010 it was during South Africa’s winter, so one of the coolest World Cups. I’ve been to Johannesburg in July - it’s bitter!

I remember lots of the England players saying how hot Germany 2006 was, especially the first game in Frankfurt. Tougher conditions than Portugal two years earlier, they said. Brazil 2014 would have been hot as well.

There are many things to moan about at this world cup, but the weather really isn't one. Nor is the lack of alcohol FFS

Ah fair enough ….my lasting memory from South Africa was those bloody annoying noisy things ….forgot to factor in it would have been their winter

So without googling it I’m guessing it’s gonna be pretty hot at the next one ….say similar to Qatar in June?

Makes me think will that one be in winter too then or if not why play this one in December time

I’m confused or being simple , probably both

Americans play sport throughout the summer, hell the old Texas Rangers stadium was mostly unshaded in 110 degree heat. The southern US states regularly hit 40 degrees plus, so way hotter than Qatar in December.

I don't understand what the fuss about the weather is at all.

Probably not as hot as Qatar in June, no. But hotter than Qatar in November/December.

2026 will be a summer tournament.

While I like baseball it's not relatable to playing football in the heat. They sit in conditioned dugouts half the game ffs.

Air conditioned dug outs?!

Learn something every day

I’ve never watched any American sports (basketball / football or baseball ) so am not clued up on conditions over there for sport

I’ve seen major league though and they didn’t have air conditioned dugouts 😂

Its the temperature in quatar during the summer was the issue hence why the world cup is kicking off tomorrow
