People employed in contact sports are about 4 times more likely to suffer from MND than the average person. It is a hidden hazard for all professional sportsmen.
I had never heard of it until an aunt of mine (who wasn't even sporting) suffered debilitating symptoms before succumbing to it. Nobody ever mentioned it until high profile people such as David Niven and Stephen Hawking contracted it.

Not hoping to step out of line here but why does autism appear to be a new phenomenon.

Surely it’s being around for ages but only seems to have being front and news since the turn of the century.

I have a friend who has two kids in their ‘20s diagnosed with it and two healthy young adults otherwise but never knew until it was too late to deliver the proper help needed.

Seriously I thank my blessings everyday that I have two happy and healthy girls because it appears to be on the rise et al, Asperger’s etc.

Why is the ?

Morning View, Morning all.
It seems ages since the last game, but good for the players to get a break. Surely we have enough in the locker to beat Newport, but as they say, the cup is a great leveller. What ever, we have a massive game coming up next weekend and we need to ensure our best players are available for that. Cheers. Terry. UTR

Greeting Igor and Comrades

I’ve read about this in the past … in a book called the Psychopath Test . Very interesting read about humankind .

I think the key bit was in the early 1970’s a movement of US based psychiatrists and psychoanalysts started having meetings to codify all the conditions yhat they were coming across . You could argue that that then spawned an industry that spread across the world . Certainly some misdiagnosis IMHO based on working in schools in the past and being married to a teacher .

Misdiagnosis can be both ways I’m sure of that .

Also in that book I learned how Scientologists have a worldwide and obsessive campaign to attack the professions that begin with the letters “ Psy” … I think because of the involvement of the psy’s in helping people after they have left cults .

All of which won’t help the 🐏’s help avoid banana skins in Newport .. expect their super fans Goldie Looking Chain to be in attendance..,,,,Giants of the Welsh comedy Hip Hop-with a social conscience scene .

Also sponsored Newports shirts for a season or two

Up the Rams . I’m in the Tiger Bar later 🍻

Good to see Knight back in the squad. I expect Warne will be cautious after the false start at Anfield. Maybe he will get half an hour if all goes according to plan. It seems NML’s injury might not have been quite as bad as first feared and that he, Davies and Roberts might not be too far away from coming back.

Maybe:

Wildsmith

Smith Rooney Cashin Forsyth Sibley

Bird Hourihane Thompson

McGoldrick Collins

Or could be just the two in midfield and a front three of, say, Dobbin, Collins and Barkhuizen. Looking forward to it.

One of my groomsmen was diagnosed with MND in August last year and died this November at 56. A heartbreaking and cruel disease.

My friend and his family were helped enormously by the foundation set up by Doddie. He’s helped to raise awareness and, as a result, potential help for sufferers in the future as more research is now being done.

Knighthoods are reserved for senior civil servants and suchlike, who get paid a fortune to not do very much (and usually badly) for about 25 years.

The hoi polloi have to make do with a BEM

Really sad to read this Fin, not sure why but tears seem to flow easy for me these days but which in retrospect isn’t a bad thing.

My age and such a terrible disease, as I’ve said previously I’m blessed to have what I have.

Oh and this Club certainly keeps you on your toes.
