I’m off to walk the dog to calm down.
For now two words only from me……
Marsch out
Let’s look at the positives. Gnonto, Rodrigo, Drameh, Wober, Accrington Stanley.
On the downside…
People were writing Marsch's obituary at half-time. Little premature in my opinion.
How would people have reacted if his team had lost 3-0 to Crawley?
Two biggest conclusions for me today, firstly this squad never ever gives up. Secondly, surely the most oft-repeated quote among Leeds fans of 2022 - get Struijk back in the middle - should never be uttered again.
I wouldn't say we didn't deserve a draw as poor as we were we did have more than enough chances to warrant our replay but I agree with your overall summary Jonty.
I was on the fence over Rasmus but today he looked championship level as did Aaronson, Greenwood, Gelhardt and most disappointingly Struiyk at Cb.
Gelhardt is definitely not a lone striker, a number 10 maybe and impact sub but he is too lightweight, similar to Aaronson, and I fear with the imminent signing of a new number 9 Joffy's days are numbered at Elland Road.
I said at half time, even if we came back, that first half will have eroded a lot of support for Marsch, we cannot pretend it didnt happen, its really turned fan sentiment against him.
Everything with Marsch is just relied on luck. I doubt he made those subs and honestly thought it'd change the game. There's no style to the way we play everything is hit and hope for the best. A bit of brilliance always gets him out of jail. First Rodrigo then Gnonto. You just wonder what our future holds with him at the charge.
Shambolic first half (last 44 minutes).
I know there are a ton of negatives. But for me,
I cannot understand what (if anything) the club
see in Llorente & Firpo. They're absolute sh 1T.
They're not the only ones. However, these two
suck 105,000 quid per week out of the club.
And they offer next to nothing. Awful decisions
to sign both. Worse that Llorente has been
rewarded with a new contract. Mind blowing.
I can't see how Marsch turns this around long
term? I've given him the benefit for a while.
He doesn't show anything but a few sales
phrases and the odd fist pump. Tactically inept.
Tons to worry about.
Only positives were Gnonto (who is a star we
lucked into), Rods, and the fact we drew.
Robles - don't really have much to say about him, he is your bog standard backup keeper, I'd love us to have a world class options as backup but a club of our level and finance is never going to get that.
Defense - AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ahem ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Okay, now I've got that out my system...
Rasmus (everytime I read that I want to go AHOO AHOO... there's a reference for all you early naughties emo/nu metal kids...) is not good. Sorry but he just isint. He, like the rest of Jesse's Red Bull brigade (Adams aside) just are not good enough. He brought in all these players from a championship level league (and even that is being generous) and guess what, for the most part they look championship level.
Centrebacks - so yeah not great today. Striujik got a chance in his preferred position and was bang average and llorente was his usual self
Firpo - fairly good game actually, not great but actually wouldn't be that against him starting the next one either.
Midfield - Gnonto is going to be a star... Check that he is already a star he going to be a supernova...
Summerville - starting to warm to this guy, he has something about him and when he first came in I was worried that he was too selfish as he just wouldn't release the ball early enough, but actually now he is getting game time you can see he is a good player and he does know when he needs to pass and what pass to make.
Gyabi - started well, but you have to be honest you can see why he is in the reserves and not part of the first team.
Greenwood (along with geldherdt who I will come onto) I mean yeah we were playing against ten men but they had been playing against 9 with these two on the field, where the hell were they?
Forwards - Geldhardt... What's the point of him. I mean at least bamford has the excuse for not doing anything today as he was at home injured. If bamford had been named in the starting 11 by accident he would have done as much from his couch as geldhardt did on the field.
Marsch is not a good manager. I'm not sure how else to put it really cause he doesn't seem prepared picks the wrong players has no style to his play and just buys players he has worked with before.
Oh and Aaronson... Played good in his first game, got found out and is now a below average lightweight who is not physical enough for this league and everyone now knows it

Struijk "bang average"? He was nowhere near that good!!
Additional...
Rod is a level above the kids around him, if he gets injured we are doomed
I think Marsch needs to do some work with the kids, Gelhardt, Greenwood, Gyabi and Joseph all trying too hard. Snatching at their opportunities. Chances they would gobble up for the kids.

Totally agree. Amazing to think not long ago he was one of the regular scapegoats. Especially with the half-head who sits behind me at Elland Road.
Yes I do think JM's tenure is hanging by the short and curlies especially as his whole tactical motivational mantra was not sufficient to outwit or get the better of a rookie young coach of an under strength bottom 6 championship club.
His reluctance or refusal to bench Aaronson concerns most of us and dropping Ayling for an inferior defender in Rasmus is also a blinkered or extremely stubborn decision not forgetting the enormous potential of Drameh being overlooked too, all adds up to an unhappy dressing room in my opinion.
I know a lot of fans have had enough but despite today I am prepared to give JM 3 more league games and pray we get at least 6 points but if after Villa, Brentford and Forest we are still talking about the same old concerns then I will concede that JM's time will be up because the dissention at Elland Road will be too loud for Radz to ignore and it's just gone up a fare few notches already.
A total disrespect for the FA Cup, Cardiff City and almost 7,000 traveling fans.
You would think coming back from two down in the first half would be cause for celebration but the display in the first half of zero shots on goal show that Jessie set us up to fail. Should have scored 4 in the second half but to say we were wasteful would be kind.
Why is Aaronson always first name on the team sheet. Offers very little.
Terrible penalty from Rodrigo or else Jessie would be taking the plaudits for his brilliant substitutions.
Marsch out.
Left back has been a problem but we have no Prem standard Centre backs at the club. Our problems stem from there. Goals change games. We keep gifting them. Erodes our confidence, lifts the oppositions. Time and time again.
And we seem to be extending all their contracts.
Maybe we should put in a bid for slabhead.
White, Gyabi is 18 for god's sake, that's the reason why he is part of the u21's not lack of potential.
Marsch on Wober: I asked him at half time if he thought he could go for 45.
What, kind of a coach asks a new player that kind of question? Like you have to get a player’s permission before you put him on the pitch. When I coach my son’s team, I have all the subs asking me every minute, ‘can I come on, can I come on?’
The more I listen to Jesse, the more ridiculous he sounds.
Interesting thing about Firpo today was his forward play was actually good. His defensive abilities are clear and obvious for all to see as unacceptable at Premier and Championship level.
Therefore I would like to see Firpo employed in midfield and see if he can be at least utilised there as a better option than Greenwood, Aaronson and Gjabi who seem to me to be not good enough for the top English league level.
Firpo’s always been decent in the ball… just a car crash defensively. Gyabi’s just a kid… plenty of ability… step from u21s is huge in terms of pace of the game. He started brightly and faded today. Greenwood’s only 20 and learning a new position. Thought it was a big ask to play both rather than 1. Aaronson just very lightweight and lost confidence.
