It's disappointing to see Chelsea bulldoze their way in picking up Mudryk but hopefully it's a bullet dodged. I thought from the off the way he was pimping himself out online seemed pretty disrespectful to his existing club. Even if we did land him, what would have stopped him doing the same thing when say Real Madrid came calling. We'd have hated it. He looks an exciting player, can he realise his potential at Chelsea? We will see.
For us it's a blow though as it's not like we are going to turn around and bring an alternative target in straight away. I thought we'd get Danilo in at some point a bit under the radar but he's gone to Forest. Maybe they will surprise us like with Vieira but the clock is ticking.
I've had doubts about Mudryk from the very start but was giving the benefit of the doubt to Edu/Arteta. We already have some superb wide players. So they must have thought he is better than what we have.
Which is OK. But last summer our main target was Raphinha and Mudryk was an after thought. We could have had him for £30m-£40m last summer but now wanted him so much that we went to €95m? Honestly something does not add up!
And how much impact could he have had in the next 3 months with no experience of playing at the intensity of a top league. Against defenders who are just as fast and skilful as he is?
We need players who can have an immediate impact and help us win the league right now!

His scoring record isn’t great
They’ll have other targets going at the same time, just because one is being reported doesn’t mean there’s not others being worked on. Id doubt any club put all their effort into building one deal at a time. 100m is pretty ridiculous fee to pay for him, he looks like he could be a top player, but paying that fee is taking a huge risk, so while it’s disappointing I’m not too annoyed we didn’t match that. If he’d been banging in goals for a season or 2 then yes, but it’s still at a high risk stage, we certainly need signings but missing him isn’t the end of the world
Tbh I was never that hot for him and not having reinforcements at what is probably one of our most crucial point in the season was putting me of more. As long we have quick plan B I am more relieved that Marti/Saka balance is not being messed with.
You know Mudryk might be the next Eden Hazard but for now we need to concentrate on winning the league. And I was never sure what he could add to that.
Mudryk looks a good player on the ball but has not scored many goals. We need a goal scorer.
I wonder if he will get sent off first game as well.
