There are pros and cons to the Glazers ultimately, and there will be pros and cons to which ever new owner comes in in the future
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is not a single pro to Glazer ownership. They have failed to develop this club and the only thing they have done is fill their pockets.

We are way behind our rivals, have an archaic shiiithole of a stadium, terrible training facilities and we run the risk of breaking FFP. On top of that we haven't won a single trophy in 5 years. The less said about our scouting, transfers etc the better.

I get what you mean, but it's not like they've clearly stopped us spending big when we need to. I think other owners probably have
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We needed to spend in this window. The parasites did not sanction a single purchase.

We replaced Ronaldo in 09 with Owen, Valencia and Obertan. That will forever remain the window ever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Probably not enough money in the kitty.

We currently owe other clubs around £300m more than other clubs owe us in unpaid transfer payments.

They are looking to sell the club. They were never going to spend big this window. Just be thankful that they are looking to sell.

Don't think it will happen but if it does then I will play it by ear. See how things develop and what they bring to the table.

All this stuff about Qatar as a country is neither here nor there for me. It's what they do here that's important.

I know City are in trouble but look how much investment has been put into their women's team compared to ours. And these guys are meant to be anti women

I wouldn’t mind them taking money out had they also paid off the debt.

What a govt does in its own country is one thing. A business person/consortium from a particular country would be abiding by our laws etc. Don't see an issue personally.

The issue with the debt is that money used over the years in interest payments could have been used on other things.

The debt itself as a thing was meaningless.

Taking money out of the club while it needs investment on infrastructure, players and winning trophies, that’s the problem
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Remind us how much they've spent on both infrastructure and players during their tenure.

The Glazers have put money into the squad, but they’ve neglected just about every single other aspect of running a football club.

When was the last time you had the misfortune of going to Old Trafford? It’s become an absolute dump. Even the hospitality is several decades out of date compared to what’s on offer the Spurs, Arsenal, City etc..

The Glazers have taken their cut, that’s fair enough - they own the shop - but they’ve even gone cheap on the concessions stands. The pies are nastier than ever, but the prices higher. The food and drinks deals are no longer remotely good value. The fan experience is honestly championship level.

I've never though the debt has been that massive a problem really. Don't they keep it there to do some accounting shenanigans for tax purposes? I'm sure someone has mentioned that here before.

My main grumble with the Glazers over the years has been they've not shown much ability at all in knowing how to properly run the football side of the club.

If they magically got all the right people into the right roles then I'd have no problem with keeping them as owners. That hypothetical ship has probably sailed of course but I'd have no issue.

The glazers haven’t really put much of their own money in at all, it’s why it’s been such a good investment for them. Huge asset growth with virtually no risk or additional investment needed from them.

It's one and the same. We've spent hundreds of millions servicing a debt that still stands at the original balance. It ultimately all comes back to the debt (or servicing of it).

Had they paid the debt off, we'd have the cash for them to profit and us to invest in the football.

Precisely the point. They’ve not risked anything for United. A leveraged buyout that put the club at risk. Zero risk to them. Money taken out of the club. No investment in the infrastructure. Terrible mismanagement. Bad appointment after bad appointment.

Parasites.

Are you saying Old Trafford is exactly the same now as when they took over?

posted on 8/2/23

The way I see it is that as long term supporters of a football club you physically 'invest' hard earned money into the club you support, often over and above other (and sometimes more important) areas and needs in your own and your immediate family's life. And supporting a PL club is not cheap. If you buy any of following on a regular basis, such as, Season Tickets, Match Tickets, Match Programmes, Club Membership, Food and drinks in the stadium, Official Merchandise, Corporate Hospitality, you are directly patronising and funding the owner's business model. Of course if you have a problem with that you could just refuse to go to games and have no part in it. However, the alternative to that is watching on TV and as we know TV subscriptions to Sky/BT/Prime in the UK alone make up the vast majority of a PL clubs overall income.

So you are left with either listening to it on the radio, finding dodgy internet streams to watch on your phone, or watching 7 minute highlights on MOTD, or reading the paper match report the next day.

I personally dislike the Glazers. Not because they are American but because they look like leprechauns, they seem to know fack all about football, used the club as a cash cow and employed Ed Woodward, (who basically pizzed most of the money Glazers gave him to run the club with) and let our fine stadium start to crumble (and if you dont attend games I cant see why that would bother you). One each of FA Cup, Ropey and EFL Cup is a pathetic return for Man United of ten years under Glazers. But I still keep going and still keep paying the money.

If Qataris took over I'm not happy at all over the human rights record of Qatar GVT. Obviously. However I watched the WC on the TV. Ill still take my missus up the Shard when I visit That London and I've paid to watch PSG at OT. And I will therefore still buy all the things listed above to facilitate my hobby of supporting Man United. I don't actually believe anybody who says they will stop supporting Man United if Qatar bought the club, unless they were really looking for an excuse to stop supporting the club, or they did a Man City to the club.
