He’s rapid, needs to improve his finishing though

posted on 20/2/23

Ye most Liverpool fans knew this already. He's strong, absolutely rapid, good in the air, has a good first touch, can pick out a pass and has a good work rate. I get why some laugh at his misses but he's been working on scraps mostly and coming into a struggling side is never easy.

Statistically before their moves I read he had a better clear chance conversion rate than haaland so be interesting to see what happens once he builds confidence as finishing was actually a major strength of his pre the move.

The amount of chances that scuuum produce he'll never run out of chances to score goals. I do hope he flops as I find his face to be extremely funny but I see there is a good player there who can be a regular 20+ goal a season for a team like Liverpool

Let's not go overboard. Haaland is the top 2 best players in the world right now along with Mbappe. Nunez is nowhere close.

He's a good player if not just a tad erratic. I don't think it's an unpopular opinion at all.

He has been our main shining light when it comes to the forwards. Finishing does need to improve and I think it will. He has also gone from number 9 to wide left most of this season and done really well for us.

I think it's slightly OTT to call Haaland top 2 in the world. Best goalscorer probably.

Well depends on your measurement. Take the goals from haaland and he's not all that. But obviously he is absurdly good at the goals. But pop him in the Liverpool team this year and I don't think he'd have done much at all

Unpopular opinion but I think your a not to bad poster at all.

They all like to make fun of you considering some of your woeful attempts at WUMS.

But he is a good poster and a honest guy. He probably wont be as good as Sandy but there is definite decent poster in there.

I'm listening a podcast now and they reckon his control was a bit lucky but his finish was great for his goal on Saturday which is probably a fair reflection of him in general.

Nunez reminds of Roberto Soldado...Neother could hit a barn door in their lives depended on it

Just one has cost way too much - Nunez!

He is and never was a bad player?

Scored many goals for Benfica last season and did well in the champions league.

He’s 23, new team, new country, doesn’t speak English. People just think players have to hit the ground instantly for some reason.

I did make a comparison of sorts to be fair. I just find it interesting that the very thing that makes haaland look so good and that Nunez is criticised for isn't actually borne out in the pre transfer stats

Haaland and Mbappe are the best players in the world easily and have been for a good 2-3 seasons now especially Mbappe.

His transfer fee may have something to do with that

Didn’t Und spend similar money on Anthony

Both new players to a new league in a different country and have been playing mostly as wide forwards.

I know who I would rather have

Kid has hit the post a crazy amount of time's too. I don't think many Liverpool fans at all are unhappy with him. He is raw but scored more PL goals already than Rashford did last season....and some United fans are saying he's the best in the world now so a good omen for Nunez 😂

Nunez has all the attributes to be a top striker and I am sure he will be great for Liverpool if they can rebuild a decent team. I wish we have someone like him at United switching places with Rashford. Nunez is the type of player worth giving time as I am sure will be worth it.

I love the way people don’t even mention Kane when discussing the best players in the world and use the fact he hasn’t won anything as the yard stick to not include him in the conversation

What has haaland won then ?

By the way I don’t agree with the yard stick it just seems odd to me

Not sure it will be worth it as I think it already is. He is already playing well and clearly has potential to get a lot better. Interesting that many point to losing mane and getting Nunez as the source of our problems. The last time our team was dross due to injuries mane had a shocking season and scored 11 in 35 games. Nunez already has 6 from 17 whilst being completely new to the team.

He’s got a way to go before he’s regarded as better than Lukaku was, but I think he will turn out to be pretty good.

Only five players have scored more goals from open play, which although nothing truly special I feel shows the criticism has been over egged a fair bit.

His numbers are good and his skill set is extremely rare. He creates chances for himself and for others and can play a few positions too (which Klopp likes).

Diaz, Jota and Firmino being missing hasn't helped him as they would sll create more space we'll have all six available soon and I fancy him to kick on a bit when they are.

If Klopp can iron out his consistency then he'll be one hell of a player.
