Most creative player at the club

posted on 21/2/23

He's a very versatile and skilful player, most everything good we do has been going through him since the WC. I feel like he was always in Ronaldo's shadow for club and country.

Does he get much flack though? Most UTD fans I know love the guy. Probably just a matchday thread type of an issue. They'll moan about things when we are 3-0 up.

1. He is a very talented player and has returned to somewhere near his best form since Ronaldo left. I really feel he was struggling a bit in his shadow.

2. His assist for Rashford at the weekend was incredible.

3. It is a load of rubbish that he is the only player in the squad that can create something from nothing.

4. Does he actually get that much flak from United fans?

If he improved his concentration levels and decision making, he'd be top tier.

He has not returned to anywhere near his best form since Ronaldo left. Any opportunity to bash Ronaldo you are there. He is not scoring like he once was, where he has improved is his ball retention which was diabolical prior to Ronaldo joining and was dire when Ronaldo joined. He got away with losing the ball cheaply previously because he was banging them in for fun.

But carry on.

Yes he makes more errors than I'd like but overall he's a terrific player and is absolutely essential to our success.

Last season, a lot were saying we need to sell Bruno and Rashford. People don't understand Bruno is a high risk high reward player and put too much focus on his mistakes.

A tale of 3 transfers

Utd 19/20 before Bruno signed - 47% win rate

Bruno joining till Ronaldo signed - 60% win rate

Ronaldo debut to final Utd game - 46% win rate

Since Ronaldo final game = 79% win rate

Bruno - 5. All huff and puff with no end product. The only good thing he did was work hard all night and track back. Why ETH insists playing him on the right is beyond me. He is completely ineffective there whenever I have seen him.

Having said that Robertson is the kind of person you'd love in your team so it's not a bad thing to be a bit of a 'house.

Are you forgetting that a large number of his goals were penalties?

3 assists and 5 goals in his 11 games since the WC would indeed suggest that he is somewhere near his best form.

And I have no desire to bash Ronaldo. It was my opinion that we would be better as a team without Ronaldo and that some players (particularly Rashford and Bruno) were struggling in his shadow. Their return to form and improved team results would indicate that I was correct. But please feel free to ignore the evidence.

Bruno is a brilliant player for Utd, creating so many opportunities for others and key passes in the final third of the pitch, as well as his mad pressing ability.

He does give the ball away too easily at times, and if he could keep possession better sometimes whilst not diminishing his creative output, it would take his game up another level

Yeh, he is one of those players that opposition fans hate and your own fans love. You need some of them in the team.

Definitely. Martinez is a welcome addition in that respect. I think Cas offers a bit of steel to the team was well. And I think that Garnacho has got a bit of an edge to him as well.

Elvis - absolutely. If you can't play well at least have players who can disrupt the opposition with some niggle.

The Process - you'll go with them though as they fit your agenda... Although the eyes tell you we're better without Ronaldo really.

Exactly. A bit petty getting salty over the fact you were wrong about something that can be seen by anyone that actually watches us play. We are much better off with Ronaldo. That doesn't alter the fact that he has been an incredible player over the course of his career - perhaps the best ever, depending on your preference.

It's not even a sleight on Ronaldo really is it? It's just time catches up with us all. No shame that at 38 Ronaldo isn't the player he was. Who is?
