How much would those openly defending Lineker today stand by the right to free speech of a BBC employee posting on Twitter in support of the policy?

Let's say another MOTD presenter like Shearer or Murphy did so... do we think they'd keep their job?

Seems to me there's a lack of tolerance across both sides in any debate of this nature.

People have lost their jobs for similar things.

Lineker is in a privileged position earning well over £1m a year with the BBC on top of what he earns from BTSport.
His contract will include a number of caveats such as not getting involved in political canvassing or any activity that might create issues for his employers.
Personally I am not swayed one way or the other by his comments recently.

However I do think this woke stuff has to end, people have a right to free speech within reason and without them being cancelled.🤔😵‍💫

If he’s broken a clause in his contract then that’s different, absolutely.

Also we have to remember all those passengers on that Jamaica flight who protested against an undesirable being deported. The flight took off without the individual concerned who was returned to the detention centre before being released on bail whilst an appeal against deportation was heard.

We have a judicial system that’s on its knees, I’m not sure it’s quite ready yet to turn into Minority Report…

I just mean that in the same way you're free to speak your mind, companies are free to not want to be affiliated with you if that speech doesn't match their values. A lot of it will just be virtue signalling though to avoid backlash when they don't really care that much.

Cmon lets have a why and some reasoning behind these opinions. A thorough analysis of what the problem involves from a moral, practical and economic perspective and what the potential solutions and outcomes are.

I want to see the net cost and benefit to the Country as whole, how this plan affects it, what other plans there could be etc.

It's all to easy to post up an opinion with no substance. Not sure what anyone on here or Lineker has to offer if they're just saying things like yeah I agree, yeah I don't agree, 1930, we need to help people, etc.

I like Lineker and he's entitled to his views without being cancelled for them, but that was a stupid thing to say about the government. They are a disgrace, but they aint 1930's Germany ffs. We don't need thousands of unchecked Albanian's coming here to claim benefits. Only people we should be helping are those affected by war and natural disasters.
