Let's hope Sir Jim wants to spend the last years of his incredibly privileged life seeing his beloved football team regain its former glory.

I honestly can't believe he's gone through all this for investment purposes. He's worth 15bn and he's in his 70's. Feels more like an Abramovich 'lets enjoy life' approach than a parasite leeching off any profits to me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He’s not purchasing it himself though is he? All depends on how they fund future investment, the Abramovic model isn’t the best either.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ratcliffe and Ineos are interchangeable terms.

He owns two thirds of the company, runs and has executive control of it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Right but the likelihood of him doing an abramovic model is vastly reduced if he’s purchasing it via Ineos was my point, not that I think he’d have done it either way.

Imagine if this was all just to try and squeeze one final billion out of the Qataris, wouldn’t put it past the Glazers.

could easily well be.

Yeah, it’s Ineos buying the club. So it remains to be seen what their strategy is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I thought so. They’ll have learned a bit from Nice you’d hope.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
They won’t be going in completely blind. But as I mentioned in my earlier reply to rosso, I suspect they would value the experience of Joel and Avram when it comes to running a huge club like United. Setting aside what I think of their ownership, it makes sense on a transitional basis when you haven’t run a club like United. You only have to look at what a shiiiiitshow Chelsea have been since getting rid of everyone associated with the previous ownership, even if there were issues with the people running Chelsea under Roman.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m sure he’ll have them set as speed dial 1 and 2

Yes... but it's one of those no-lose situations that looks remarkably like a no-win situation.

I know, but what I done know who I would like , the fans?
Yes but that isn't going to happen.
I can't even imagine an ideal owner.
An Abramovitch who was born in Salford and has had a season ticket for fifty years ?

Got to be culer then, though fans that work as waitresses won’t like it.

Amazing how perspectives can be altered.

If a year ago we were told that a British Utd fan worth 15bn was going to reduce the Glazers down to minority shareholders everyone would have been over the moon.

Enter Qatar and their gas / oil money and look at the reaction from about 50 to 60% of the fanbase now.

Sportswashing works and it works fast.

There's a lot who want Qatar believe me. Feels very divided in the fanbase.

Obviously all the plastic Mark Goldbridge generation want Qatar but that really was the most obvious thing to happen possibly ever.

We don't have close to 1bn fans. I don't know where that line came from but it's simply not true.

1 in 8 people on the planet aren't Utd fans ffs.

And no I don't know any more but speaking to fellow match goers and reading twitter and the forums there's a good chunk on both sides of the fence.

On a completely unrelated topic a work colleague of mine (United fan) has just messaged me (she very rarely does that!) to excitedly tell me that there could be a scandal breaking soon with the England international team!

20% gives them a board seat, but Ratcliff will stack the rest of the board with proper directors that know how to run sporting brand and business. He is experienced enough to ensure we have strong governance and strategy in place. Not only is he an extremely accomplished businessman, he also has significant successful sporting ownership pedigree with heavy involvment/ownership in F1, sailing and football teams. The Galzers will still be there, but they will not have any authority for financial, business or sporting decisions.

You'd not get very good odds. 😂

He's been frozen out twice this season under Pep. Something definitely off about him despite his incredible talent.

Apparently a male international is having an affair with a female international! I've no reason to disbelieve this person as I know her husband is friends with the England kit man.

But I dont do Twitter. You are welcome to that.

As for the 1B I have no idea how many fans United have worldwide. Its just a figure that you see sometimes written in the press.
