As you know, I watch a lot of Belgian domestic football and I can tell you Verbruggen is the real deal.

I guess if he's valued at £10-20m he must be considered a work in progress, but I'd happily take that rawness if his profile is right when we're not in a position to invest heavily in every position requiring upgrades.

I know nothing about him. Which means he's probably better than De Gea. Sign him up!

I’d have expected £20m to be the absolute upper end for a player currently in the Belgian league?

Given the prices attached to keepers who were considered likely to move the needle for their new clubs (Allisson, Kepa, Diogo Costa release clause of £66m) and the availability of so many metrics to gauge generic ability and adjust data for level of the league, I'd guess that if there were a strong sense that Verbruggen's ability *and* development meant he's ready to perform flawlessly for an elite team, his price would be higher. That's why my hunch is that he's a work in progress. As I say, even a raw player with the right attributes and a high ceiling would be preferable to me than persisting with DDG.
