Top 4. More important in the long term
Top 4. If we hadn’t already won a trophy I’d think differently.
Heard quite an interesting call on a phone in from a City fan the other night.
He said he'd rather win the FA Cup this season, than the CL... this season only though.
He said his reasoning was that as an actual Mancunian he'll likely never, ever, see an FA Cup final with Utd ever again in his lifetime and that makes it too important to lose and then walk around the town too, where as City will doubtless win the CL at some point.
I actually get it, but he is an actual Mancunian, so d9ubt many on here (or online in general) will agree.
Having won the Carabao Cup we've got the not winning a trophy thing off our back for this season. Were we currently trophy-less I think the decision would be different.
From the position we've been in I think it's more important we finish in the top 4, especially as it's Liverpool who would/could be taking our spot and then could leap frog us in the summer window due to the prospect of Champions League football.
If we drop to 5th I think you can say goodbye to the likes of Kane as he isn't in a position to wait at his age.
Realistically The FA Cup is the best trophy available for any English club except City these days. It's value has increased because of that, while top 4 has decreased due to clubs like spurs being able to obtain it.
Top four because of the situation, I think the team and the fanbase would struggle with letting top four slip away (to Liverpool) from such a commanding position far more than losing to City in a final which is very much expected
Top 4, our aim should never be about stopping someone else over our own goals, that’s what small clubs do. If City win the treble then so be it.
Not getting top 4 will most likely effect our ability to get the players we want this summer.

Don't see what the size of the club has to do with it.With City dominant it may be a decade before you win another trophy. Spurs have proved that top 4 can be pretty worthless, a trophy is for life.

The mad thing is if Brighton beat Newcastle on Thursday, they are right back in the race also.

True but they’d be reliant on a Liverpool slip up, that doesn’t look likely

If we get 4 points and they win all of their games (still unlikely) they'll finish ahead of us on goal different.
Also, if they win all of their games Newcastle would need 4 points from there last 2 to finish ahead of them.
It's still very unlikely Brighton get in but it looks less unlikely than it did before they beat Arsenal.
City will likely now be Champions by the time they go to the Amex so the Arsenal win could have double benefits.
If United do capitulate to Liverpool for top 4 it could have massive consequences on the club, players morale and relationships and fundamentaly Eriks summer recruitment plans and maybe with the sale too.
Bournemouth is such a massive game now. The Cup Final doesnt come into it. That takes place when the league business is done and if we win that it's a massive bonus if we have CL. He we fail with CL its gonna be scant consolation if we do beat City.
I think I'd rather beat City.
In 20 years time I doubt I'd be reminiscing about a win against Fulham to secure top 4 whereas a win against City in the Cup Final would be special.
I do know top 4 is important as well of course but winning the FA Cup stops IT from happening.

Not seen you in a while Rapster, too busy celebrating last years quad still?
Do we get to choose who takes out place in the top 4? Seeing Liverpool sneak in would take the edge off beating city in the cup.
If, say, Brighton got 4th though, i'd prefer the FA cup.

Grew out of football mate. Kids game innit.
If we are beating city in the CF it will need an extraordinary effort on our part and they will have to have their worst game of the season, they would blow away any team on planet at this moment in time and not by the odd goal or two, we are inferior in every position they could field a second string side and still win comfortably, we are far to fragile

Real Madrid might disagree.
The FA Cup . It's a proper trophy.
Top 4 is just about money
Can’t decide!
Would choose the FA Cup because beating City in a cup final is just great, especially if it stops them getting the treble (though they won’t exactly be disappointed with the CL and League double).
But then the lasting negative impact of missing out on top 4 now could be a lot worse than the disappointment of losing a cup final vs what is currently the best in the world.
Would p*as me off for a few days or weeks, but would be p*ssed off for months next year in the Europa league, also any players that might be put off coming and go to Liverpool or Newcastle instead
Imagine the Glazers sacking EtH just before they leave for not getting CL football.

That raises in interesting point... I imagine the deal/s to buy the club have some kind of clause about CL football, so might mean another season of Glazer ownership.
