Robb did you see the story doing the rounds in Australia today? A woman went to the back to withdraw $3,500, realised she had forgotten her bank card, went in to the branch to use ID only to be told there was no cash in the branch. Rather than go home to get her card she went to the media, was the headline story on news.com.au for a couple of hours and this morning was interviewed on the Today show. 😂😂😂😂 Utterly ridiculous.

Must be an older generation thing, but I never carry cash anymore, what's the point?

If they like cash i'm gonna go cashless.

I’m sure GB news are pushing this to help defend Nigel Farage with his banking problems.

A cashless society only hurts some of the most vulnerable.

What do you need cash for?
*Closes your bank for not worshipping trans people*

This is being stamped out by regulations fortunately.

I cannot stand Nigel Farage but having his bank shut his accounts for being pro-Brexit is an incredibly dangerous precedent.

a bank account isnt a human right though, its a private business

Cash

I piece of paper with a promise to pay in gold that doesn't exist in the bank the money is printed for.

Money in the bank, a digital figure, representing above which is easier to access and accrues interest, although criminally small.

I'll go with the latter thanks. Not sure why anybody would want to carry around wads of cash and keep stashes at home.

Just read the article

So the justification is because 5m people still use cash. Well let them, they're allowed to do that. Soon that will be 4m, then 3m and eventually zero.

Also they can track you?

Oh no, please don't find out about my trip to M&S to buy some food. Wait, you know that I purchased a bottle opener on Amazon yesterday? Well I'm done for, my life is in ruin.

Costs you more in the long run? Have you any evidence to back up this statement or just making wild claims? All my purchases are done online apart from the odd trip to the supermarket or petrol station. How do you suppose I pay for those transactions?

He didn't have his bank accounts shut for being pro-Brexit. Have you been reading the Sun again?

According to the BBC Farage had his Coutts account because he didn’t have enough money in his account t to keep it open.

Not woke but broke.

“I cannot stand Nigel Farage but having his bank shut his accounts for being pro-Brexit is an incredibly dangerous precedent.”

This is simply not true. After the UK left the EU many many British banks forcibly closed accounts to those who were resident within the EU, even if they held UK nationality. I know. It happened to me.

It’s all down to the so-called financial “passporting” clause that, on the UK’s insistence, was centre-stage of the Withdrawal Agreement.

So, Farage is not telling the whole truth. Yes, he may have had his account closed - and also refused banking facilities by another seven UK banks - and do you know why? Because he is officially a resident of Germany.

But he won’t tell you that bit.

* Only financial institutions that have a 100% uk-owned but EU-based office/branch were able to carry on as before.

Let's be honest. GB News couldn't care less about cash vs no cash. All that article is, is an attempt to drive engagement and traffic to their site from a couple of specific demographics of people. Arguments are great for click through.

As for Nigel Farage - wouldn't pss on him if he was on fire. Odious cant.

My local Chinese takeaway is cash only which is a total pain in the backside and ridiculous in this day and age.

It would be best if they took both card and money.
