Rooney has just had a good game at right back, then our manager says we need a new right wingback. The man is very strange and that's putting it politely.

Well we won't be selling Bird this time round then!

I thought we were decent in the first half. Nelson and Cashin looked a lot more comfortable in a back four. Rooney looked very composed to me. I quite liked the set up of Fozzy providing the width on the left and NML on the right. Thompson was a ball of energy.

We gradually lost our way though through anxiety or tiredness or whatever. We just about deserved the win and should have been better with a couple of breaks to finish it off.

Thompson, Rooney and Forsyth all very good. Waghorn also did well for me. A long way from a dominant performance but let's hope it's a tiny acorn.

There is surely no broader church than one which allows Scouse through its doors.

The one that let's me through is exceptionally wide.

I agree Vidal, everybody was tired towards the end, and injuries to Ward Bird Wilson will not help short term.
We certainly need reiforcements quickly, but saying that, we are still confined by the efl business plan, so cannot splash out, but after 4 games with all the problems we have, we are still only 3 points off the top.
A long way to go, fresh legs in, see what we can do.
Keep the faith.

Today's results showed that our results against Wigan and Oxford weren't as bad as we thought. Maybe we have enough quality to challenge for a playoff place.

Ditching Collins and Bradley has to improve us.

It is. But I think it's also because we've been linked with Reading's RB Yiadom ( I think that's how it's spelt) who left the club. Rooney can provide CB cover or DM.where he has done well.

This was much better, especially first half. In spite of their league position Fleetwood were no mugs and should soon move up the table. They had some good players, esp Earle and, yes, Rooney.

We looked so much better with a back four but I wonder if it was a selection from choice or necessity. NML is so much better wide right and Thommo did enough to warrant selection as did our Rooney. Waggy and Wash added some pace and subtlety up front and Nelson was solid as were Wildsmith and Fozzie. Cashin looked more like his old self and Smith and Hourihane were fairly effective.

Midfield is till not right however and I don't just mean without Bird. Let's hope the likely new face can help resolve the problem.

Still much to do but cause for optimism.

Thank goodness that signings are apparently imminent now that we have three serious injuries to cope with

You will never forgive Bradley for Oxford's second goal, will you Spart?

Another bizarre post match interview from PW, I think I will avoid them in the future.
I got the impression that he's so desperate to revert back to his favoured back 3, that he found it difficult to acknowledge the fact that the formation that he was forced into playing resulted in a more balanced performance & his first win of the season.
And Paul, try cutting the jokes, theyre not always that funny and seem a bit disrespectful to the players. Im starting to yearn for a bit of seriousness from our manager.

So the smoke has cleared from the barage of Fire directed at Warne, after a narrow 1-0 home win, attained without the services of Ward Wilson and Bird, all out for around 8 to 10 weeks.
We now need even more replacements to do anything in this league, but we've got a decent manager we can do it even now.
Keep the faith.

Well said Uncle T.

Worth adding that Wigan beat Bolton 4.0 and would be top had they not had 8 points deducted.

And Oxford have 9 points and are "joint" top on points.

We have no right to think beating any team in this league will be easy. We lost those games because we made stupid errors. Not because we were rolled over. In 6 weeks, we'll see where we are. I'm pretty sure we'll be in the top 6, probably top 4 and will be able to push on from there.
