Thoughts from tonight

In Crete Jonty otherwise wouldn't have turned up until 5 past 8 to avoid been called up,
Would have taken a point before with the team we had out but slightly disappointed not to win,
Agree on James thought he had a good game and on the refereeing,
I think the league is poor get the right players in and we can still go up easily,
I think Rutters transfer needs investigating have we signed his brother?

You are in another relegation battle I reckon

if we dont make some good signings, I wouldn't disagree.

Dan James…brilliant!
Meslier made a good save, not at fault for goal but distribution woeful.
Rutter…I’m absolutely positive Hoffenheim forgot the decimal point and can’t believe their luck.
Badform…even at his worst is better than anything we’ve got up front.
A lot of solid performances, but not much cutting edge.

With Bamford, Rutter, Gelhardt and Joseph

^^^

Those 4 combined would score 7 goals this season.

It would be criminal on top of 5 criminal years to
neglect yet again the need for a real goal scorer.

Thought shackleton and james, were excellent

Keep calm everyone. Our season starts in September.

I think every single guy out there needs a pat on the back, also Summerville, Paddy, Coops, Dallas and Poveda who I spotted at the ground. They are all still part of the squad. no sign Gnonto or Sinistere I note. Never rated Sinistere and Gnonto is a flash in the pan.

Sini & Gnonto can fck off.

Good post, Jonty. Agree with all you wrote. Can't see a £30m player in Rutter. WTF was Orta thinking?? Overall, the effort was there if not the cutting edge in the final third. A couple of signings short at present, particularly a striker and an attacking midfielder.... like Pablo.

With Bamford, Rutter, Gelhardt and Joseph....do we really think club are going to go out and get another striker?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

They have to. Bamford is perennially injured, Rutter and Gelhardt aren't proper 9s, and Joseph is still too raw. Need someone who's actually proven at this level, or is on the way up career-wise. Loan someone from the PL (e.g. Archer) if need be.

Credit to Farke whose influence is starting to become evident.
Incoming transfers now vital and with a few better players we'll be fine

Erm yes. You think they are good enough?

Meslier 6
Ayling 6
Byram 6
Struijk 7
Rodon 6
Gray 5
Ampadu 5
James 7
Shackleton 6
Gelhardt 2
Rutter 2

We have to embrace no VAR in the league. There will be a lot more refereeing errors swinging both ways. We have been here before, its nothing new.
Play better and give the referee less mistakes to make. The defending for their goal was shocking. How many times have we lambasted Roca for corners like that last season and Gelhardt caught on his heels (seems to be a permanent issue with him). That corner should be cleared to the half way line and instead its in the back of the net.

Sign better players. Play better football and you win more games than you lose. At present we don't look capable of winning football games.

If we get a proper 20 goal striker, a LB and a creative 10 we walk this league as we have

Proper manager in place
Players clearly following a plan and buying into it
Fitness levels look great

Need more than 3 players.

Striker / Cam
Midfield is weak with nothing beyond Ampadu/Gray.
Might need wingers once Gnonto/Sini/Summerville depart

5/6 new players needed in 12 days.

It’s obvious what we need, but at least Farke is getting them looking like a team. I think once the first five games are out of the way, the more technically adept teams will start to muscle in on the top six places. If we get a striker this week, I can see our first win coming against the tractor boys.

No, but it’s what the 49ers think.

Having had Boukli, you can bet farke wants a clinical striker.

So now we’ll really see how much the 49ers support him, or not.

Striker signing for me is the test.

Kinnear said 30m wages saved will go on players (well he didn’t actually say that but makes fans think that same way Bates did about Delphi money) and there should be parachutes payments which the club conveniently fails to mention when talking about money available.

Next league match away to high flying Ipswich. That will be a bit tasty for ex Norwich Farke, big test for us.

I’m finding it increasingly difficult to be anything other than acutely cynical when it comes to our club. I’m also finding myself at odds with an increasing number of Leeds fans who inexplicably want to excuse the club for the mess we’re so obviously in. I don’t know what happens next. Maybe a few wins will help. This is my club too. I’ve grown up from a very young lad with Leeds in my blood. It feels like an illness to which there is no cure. Rant over.

I agree re striker, I don’t see us making that a priority, hopefully I’m wrong.

Unless they see Rutter as a wide option, Joffy as a second striker and feel like they need someone else there? Neither have impressed up front so far

posted on 19/8/23

Only saw the extended highlights so hard to judge so far but imo we were the better team once again.
Rutter was hard to notice and joffy just looked bad. With an empty bench we had no options to bring on. James once again looked our best player, good on him.
Farke has a plan just needs a few more players. I don't want to go another year depending on bamford. I think he's good enough but how long can we go with him constantly injured. Time to move on and buy a striker or two. Every player added is immensely important because we're a couple injuries away from total disaster.
Have to give Farke something to work with, we haven't been able to fill the subs bench yet and that's on the 49ers.

Joffy just didn’t have the quick touch and skill he was showing in his first season, I can’t see it working for him long term sadly

I don't think we need a left back as a main priority, however when the backups to a player with Byrams injury record are Firpo and Hjelde it's a worry over a season.

With Harrison gone and Gnonto looking like he won't play for the club again and the possible situation with Sini we now need a winger. It's a long season afterall.

Striker is needed, we need a number 9 who can play all season and get us 20 goals, we don't have that in the squad as things stand.

I'm also worried about lack of options in the middle of the park.

So, in short for me it's

Striker
Central midfield
Winger
And if possible
Left back and maybe another centre back as three of a season could be a worry.

I'm very much open to any of these been loan players as that is where we are right now.

Also, Roeen is on all ten of his duals and James set up five chances including a pin point cross for the goal.

Both had excellent games and long may it continue
