He's been one of our top performers every game so far.
If (and when) we get a goal scorer up top, he'll look
even better. Watching Joffy trying to get on the end of
his crosses is frustratingly dire.
Yeah he played well. And will have value at this level.
But criticism he has received has been valid and he’s bieber going to be a £25m player. I’m still optimistic that he isn’t a first choice starter for this season.
I’m hopeful that Sinisterra starts 40 games for us. Would be amazing. But James would never be training on his own. He has had incredible attitude and resilience to a lot of crap thrown at him be the club. You got to admire and respect that.
And so what if he’s got limitations as a player. And Sinisterra is obviously a much better player. The only one I would be prepared to give some stick at Elland Road is the latter. Very rare that I am prepared to but if he does come back into the side and his heart ain’t in it then it’s deserved.
Very very few players have deserved stick for Leeds and we have had some terrible ones. But there’s no point giving them stic as it ain’t going to help and it isn’t fair.
The ones that deserve the stick tend to be the most talented that down tools. Eg. Harry Effing Kewell
Happy to discuss James’ shortfalls as a player on here but he should always deserve respect.
I agree White, the re are a couple of issues though that others have alluded to.
Firstly there's the lack of end product, he will go past other players with ease but then there's no-one for him to pass to so he cuts back and loses it. This is an issue with the club's lack of strikers. Rutter isn't the answer and I am not sure Bamford will be.
Second is that him and Byram, aren't yet on the same wavelength. Byram needs James to be tracking back and helping him, this will come when they start to work more as a team.
James always gives his all and as Faith says we should value that, others last season clearly didn't.
Yep credit where credits due.
As I've said elsewhere, I think w've messed him about royally, never complained, gone on loan, come back, never complained, getting stuck in and with Ampadu and Rodon, might be good to have three Welshies bonding within the squad.

Not challenging Weston McKennie then?
Think James might do better on the right wing myself. On the left he has to cut in on his other foot. It works for players like Sinisterra but not sure James has the quality for it to really work in the left.
Last night he was definitely more footballer than Forrest Gump. Actually took his time & thought about what he was doing. Showed some composure.
Fingers crossed it's the Farke effect.

That's what I'm hoping.
James was great, caused them so many problems and they clattered him a few times to stop him breaking. Just wish he took that great chance to get his season up and running.
I’m trying to not take my previous judgement of him into this season. He joined on deadline day, then we immediately had injuries to key players and he ended up playing out of position and took the brunt of fans’ frustrations to us not playing Joffy. Never complained about playing as a striker, always put in 100%. Not the best situation at a new club and then the manager who wanted him was sacked. No wonder he hasn’t shown us his best form

A trifle harsh that. It was a proper worldie save. I expect that keeper to let in 4/5 goals next week now.
James definitely needs more time playing and gelling with the squad to be the best he can be at this level. Perhaps worth wondering how last season would've gone if he hadn't been shunted out to Fulham at the end of the window. As you say, all credit to him, hasn't complained once and has got stuck back in.
Alright Best Fans, I take it back, read your post again and you weren't being critical.

He wouldn't have made any difference last season. He's not quite got it at Premiership level. Hopefully he helps us get back up there & then we can get some money back for him.
