Do We Have Our Tottenham Back?

7 out of 9, not 6.

Not yet but the signs are good.

I don’t think it’s the points tally. We started well last season in terms of results, but the Spurs fans who saw through all the dross under Conte could see the results were papering over the cracks.

This season we may not finish in the top four or wherever, but already the performances have been better than anything served up under Jose or Conte.

I’m happy with us taking 7 points from 9

Very happy with the football we’re playing

We will come unstuck in some matches no doubt but the positives outweigh the negatives so far.

We're giving the opposition way too many opportunities to score.

Also I’m not sure I agree with this. United had two good chances with the Bruno header and Antony hitting the post, but nothing other than that. Bournemouth had the shot by Billing on HT and that’s about it.

Last season we were completely defensive and negative under Conte yet still conceded loads.

As someone mentioned above, we started well last season also but the results were papering over the cracks of some awful performances and tactical flaws, which we could all see. Conte spent fortunes on new players then refused to integrate any of them into the squad.

I think the reverse is true this season. We’ve also got some good results but we aren’t papering over cracks - if anything you feel we could have more gears to go up if we could be more clinical with some of the chances we have created. The tactics seem good, the team looks well coached already and the players seem to be enjoying deploying the managers style of football. None of this could be said this time last year, we basically had Kane and Bentancur dragging the rest of through the grind of Conteball.

Nonetheless, I do feel we are a bit short. You’d think with a good striker a quality third CB we’d have a strong chance of doing well this season, especially with Bentancur to come back in and join the MF with Sarr, Maddison and Bissouma - but you also feel Levy will do his usual and contrive to leave yet another manager a bit short of what he needs to really push on. It’s the ENIC blueprint.

Lucky against United with the Romero handball but the ref then evened it out later.

Isn't that what it's all about? The "spurs way".
Win lose or draw playing football you like to see rather than the brand of Conte/Jose don't get beat type.

Be out by Christmas Ted 😂

Ted looking like he's back tracking on his claim Ange would be gone by Christmas.

That said it is too early to judge if we have our Spurs back. Opposition will learn more about how we play, how to stop us and how to exploit us.

I don't subscribe to the view that we've been lucky, not on balance. United missed a sitter but we also hit the post and the bar, we were deserved winners. On another day it would have been 4 vs Bournmouth a d I cannot really think of more than 1 serious chance they had.

Better team may execute the counter against us better,so that will be a test.

But already we could see an adaptation of tactics vs Bournemouth with Maddison starting a bit deeper.

Its been a strong start. What has impressed me is the movement and runs into the box from midfielders which shows a degree of understanding of the tactics and between the players which I think is unusual after son little time under Ange. All very encouraging. Good use of subs from Ange, you can already see a pattern emerging there. Backup CB and new forward and the return of Bentancur and we're looking good.

This has resulted in Spurs fans thinking the league is won in January before...it happens

I’m not going to go full out Sandy and say we are winning the title with a bit to spare, but we definitely have the feel good factor back that’s for sure. The football is brilliant so far and the players are gelling fantastically. Keep it up, i see no reason why we can’t get 4th and possibly win a domestic trophy which for me is a massive priority. No Europe will help too.

It will indeed be interesting once other teams are more used to how we play. However, Ange himself has said, the system is about every player, whether their a full back, midfielder or attacker, exploiting and attacking space.

It's about having everyone comfortable enough to have the freedom to attack the space, there will always be space on the pitch, it will be up to our opposition to track every single run we make.

That is a big ask of the opposition which is why I feel that the system bodes well.

But, as a negative i don’t think Richarlison is good enough to lead our attack all season. I want our chairman to stop leaving us short and go out to get a forward for Ange, plus another CB. I don’t think he will unfortunately as it’s vintage Levy to leave us short

Mate, with Ange’s system every single player is chipping in. We could end up having goals from literally everyone in that 1st 11. That’s incredibly hard to stop when you have a system that means 10 players on the field are always a threat to score. It’s mot just relying on Kane and occasionally Son anymore.

Things could not be going much better under Ange so far. Already instilled a possession based attacking game and young players excelling.

I would say our first X1 looks very good. The main issues are we don't have a quality striker and our bench is a huge drop off. Am I right in thinking Sanchez is next in line if we get a CB injury?

Plenty to be positive about but I think we need a striker and CB in this week to realistically challenge top 4.

posted on 28/8/23

Everything is going great, however this week is huge and will give me a sense of what we’re really about.

First off tomorrow night - we’re desperate for a trophy so ffs don’t rotate the whole faaacking team and use wasters like Eric Dire. Go strong, win the game and move on. If we go strong and lose, no complaints, if we go weak and lose then that’s a lesson already not learnt.

Secondly, another forward and CB is a must, Levy has to make it happen come hell or high water otherwise we will be short at key points in the season. No Europe this year gives us a great chance of finishing top 7 and qualifying next year.

Third - Burnley, if we can go into the international break, 3 wins and a draw, through in the cup and have done the business in the TW then what a lift that will be. We have a dream game to come back to as well Sheff U at home before our major challenges away to Woolwich and at home to Liverpool
