Didn't he flap his hands to sane goal the same way he did with Brighton final goal on the weekend

Tonight's was much worse. He should have done better with the Brighton one but it was only really a half mistake imo. Tonight's was an absolute clanger. He did a lot right too but he can't be making one mistake per game as that easily cancels out any good he's doing

He has confidence but often borders on the arrogant. He's always had errors, howlers in his game, tonight we saw the bad side of Onana, we'll see more. But once our controlled passing game starts you'll see what we saw at Inter where he instigates attacks.

There's something just generally unorthodox about him when he's dealing with shots that I don't like.

I think it is called not stopping them. Not keen on it myself.

He's dog $hite. No point in fancy footwork and picking out a good pass if you can't stop the shot.

Long term I think he'll be a good keeper for us

No he won’t, he’s a fecking calamity keeper, in 2 years you’ll be looking for a replacement and writing off the money spent on him.

The delayed dives? I often sense he feels too superior to dive to the floor, the statute impression is too frequent.

His shot stopping is nowhere as good as DDGs but DDGs distribution is nowhere as good as Onana's. Saying all that I want my keepers to make regulation saves, he makes simple saves look photo worthy. The Turkish GK looks a better option (based on YouTube clips).

I'm not going to fully judge him yet. Way too early.

We do seem to have a habit of taking players from clubs on the back of very good seasons and turning them into absolute poverty though.

He definitely could have saved at least 3 of the 14 goals we've conceded. Tonight's one the worst of the lot obviously.

He was 20. Onana is 27 and a supposed fully established keeper.

DDG made plenty of costly errors but he was the single reason why we won games single handedly at times. His shot stopping were insane. Onana needs his Utd career defining moment, it will come. It just means we have to stomach his howlers for now until he settles and asserts his personality on his teammates!

His own assessment, post match:

"This is the life of a goalkeeper," Onana told TNT Sports.

"It's difficult. We started very good. After my mistake we lost control of the game. It's a difficult situation for us, for me especially because I'm the one who let the team down.

"We were very good on the ball, they didn't create any chances, their first shot on target I made a mistake. It was the key point and the team went down because of that mistake.

"If we didn't win today it was because of me.

"I have to learn from it and be strong. I have a lot to prove. My start in Manchester hasn't been so good, not how I want. This was one of my worst games."

Apparently he requested the interview he gave to CBS tonight

He's more worried what people think of him than his a tusk performances

posted on 21/9/23

He knows he's ETH'S signing, Erik is under intense scrutiny, such an interview is a good move by Onana, taking ownership and responsibility. Unless he improves, it would prove nothing but a hollow side show.

He has strong character and I am sure things will turn around for him in time.

Replace a tusk with "actual". Dunno why my phone does that

Maybe your phone thinks Onana is from the Ivory Coast instead of Cameroon

Still doesn't make sense. If we wasn't worried by his actual performance then he wouldn't be worried about what people think of him.

Fair play to him for owning his mistake. He now needs to redeem himself with performances on the pitch.
