Feels like another step back today. Will the real Paul Warne team please stand up? When we have a good performance, like the second half agaisnt Blackpool where we played with speed and skill, it feels as though we are on the right track, and that we must expect the occasional stutter as we progress. Then after today I feel as though I was just kidding myself, and that the manager is bereft of imagination and that we are destined for an extended period of turgid mediocrity.

I liked the line up but Waghiorn didn't come deep to recieve the ball and allow some link-up play. The wide players were lacklustre. Smith and Fornah looked a bit knackered after their terrific displays at Blackpool and Fozzy looked absolutely exhausted. He played several tired passes that failed to find a Derby player and which stopped promising moves in their tracks. He could have done with a day off.

Bird lifted us hugely when he came on but there was still a lack of precision all over the pitch. We should still have won, of course. We had many decent positions and Collins should have had a couple, including the chance at the death which would have glossed over everything.

Bird apart, the subs didn't add much. There seems to be a rigid adherence to the philosophy of "get it out wide then get it in". Most teams in League 1 do not have players of skill, but they do tend to have centre halves who can defend crosses reliably enough, and you would think they probably prefer heading and kicking crosses away to the prospect of players running at them or playing one-twos around them. It seems pretty thin stuff from us sometimes.

But despite all that we are grinding out the points, becoming hard to beat. If J-J can get fit I feel he can give us the spark we are definitely lacking in the forward areas. I just wish Warne would not think of the centre of the pitch as some kind of no man's land, from which the ball must be dispatched to the flanks as quickly as is humanly possible, but instead as a potentially fertile place where, if we pass and move, or run with the ball, we might be able to create something useful from time to time.

Disappointed with the result, but we're going to get these games, we certainly had a lot more chances than them to win the game, their goal was a mistake by Fornah giving the ball away, Cheltenham will come good, and teams, will lose there, it was just one of those games.
I'm still a fan of Warne's style of play, but then again, I'm not a Moaner.

Well, I'm sorry for being a moaner. I try to be balanced. It's just opinion. I've done a fair bit of travelling to watch the team this week. Maybe I'm just tired.

No, you usually give a balanced view on the match, but some do find a lot of pleasure in moaning about the results or lack of them.

Morning Tom. Its clear you have 100% bought in to Warne's philosophy.
However, please accept that others are not quite as enthusiastic as you at this stage.

I'm very pleased with him, he has spent the fortune amassing this squad [not] with players that nobody else wanted, Playing against teams that have been built up over the years. I don't expect miracles like some people.
Strange how we didn't get this moaning after the peterborough or blackpool matches.
Or Is it like once you accused me of, entitlement creeping in. I'd rather have Warne than any of those managers below us.

I've got a match ticket for the game at Shrewsbury.

At the moment, after watching that dross yesterday, I'm really not bothered whether I go to the game or not!

Maybe I'll be more 'up for it' in a fortnight?

I agree that in some quarters fans go ridiculously over the top when we get a bad result. Not so much on this site in general I would say. I said before I'm probably too dim rto understand the nuances of coaching and the ingracacies of play and there are very many ways to skin a cat. I would like us to use our midfielders a bit more with the ball at their feet, is all.

Scouse, we can have our usual meet-up at the Boathouse which tends not to be affected by whether you are actually there in person or not.

I thought that he put a really good team out yesterday. and very little went right for them misplaced passes, missed chances, thats not down to the manager.
If if you all feel so strongly we will all go down the training ground tomorrow and kick the crap out of the players
