With Southgate
Euros - won 5 games in one tournament

In Southgates 2 World Cups England have scored 25 goals, in the 4 previous they scored 17
In Southgates 1 Euros they scored 11, compared to 24 in the previous 5 combined.
England fans sense of entitlement is staggering considering how bad they were pre-Southgate.

Agreed. Southgate isn't brilliant but he has given England more than anyone in 60 years ffs.
And given England now get to host or co host just about every third tournament these days it is only a matter of time.
Can we all stop bickering and agree that England were crap pre Southgate and lost to any decent or non decent side they faced. And also that England have been shiiite since Southgate came in and failed to beat any decent team they've face in a major comp like Croatia, Italy and Scotland. Cheating to get a pen against Denmark does not necessarily make Southgate a good manager. And yes maybe a 3rd or 4th pen against France and you might have got a draw and taken it to 5 more pens but not going to win many tournaments only scoring pens and not playing anyone decent.
Southgates had more luck than the previous 5 england managers someones said on here.
1 of them managers got put out a tournament by iceland.
Another finished bottom of a group that contained costa rica in it.
Another failed to even qualify for the tournament.
Honestly man you english dont half talk some amount of sh!te at times.

It's true though that the quality of many traditionally strong sides has absolutely plummeted as England's own fortunes rise - biggest drops being Germany and Italy. Other than Portugal, can't think of any of the big sides who are in the midst of a generation that favorably compares to their more successful teams.

Argentina, maybe. Don't quite strike me as having the same marquee depth they used to have, but they probably have a better balance than when they had all those attacking stars and flair players, and looked a trainwreck in defense.
France in my opinion are declining a bit. Nowhere near the mess Germany and Italy are and they will be a tournament threat, but it's not a vintage side. They can look pretty disjointed cos they've lacked playmakers for some time who can set the tempo and knit their play together. And a number of their players like Dembele and Coman never quite developed into what I expected they'd be.

Pretty obvious why though isn’t it? Money. It attracts the best talent, the best coaches, the best of everything. Which league has had the most for longest? It’s hardly rocket science.

I don't think it's unfair to say that he's done a good job but has a ceiling though and if we wanna push on and win things we probably need to look elsewhere. I don't think it's entitlement to be ambitious when you have the squad we do.

The expectation used to be that we’d get through the Group Stages, now it’s the Semi Finals at least.
