Maguire was offside, that wasn't subjective. Whether Maguire impacted the defender was. Correct call was made, shouldn't have took so long.

It’s bullshiiiite that’s what it is, even Dermot Gallagher looks tired of trying to justify the crap VAR has dished out to us this season.

The defender was never getting to Garnacho. He wasn’t even aware Garnacho was there.

He was challenging for the ball with an offside player.

Rules haven't changed. If you are in an offside position and impact a defenders ability to play the ball you are offside.

But on the freeze frame, the defenders arm was about a foot Infront of Maguire, therefore Maguire was a foot onside.
Do they not count arms anymore?
I've lost track

Arms have never counted.

Yes they have, almost certain of it.
Any part of the body that was further ahead.

Either way Maguire wasn't involved in play, so VAR have just created it as it happened

Maguire was involved though - he attempted to play the ball and in doing so became active under any of the following stipulations outlined in law 11:
challenging an opponent for the ball or
clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or
making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball

Definitely be saying this had that been against Arsenal too wouldn't you?
Oh wait.

Was he goalhanging though? Because that's what the offside rule is for.

Correct decision and actually good to see ref and VAR consulting to get the right outcome.

Tokl too long tho

Man City goal stood when City player tried to shoot and it went under him and goalkeeper stopped as a result lol.

We had like 3 perfectly good goals disallowed

Ok.
Watch it again and tell me how the opponent was impacted in playing the ball.
He wasn't any near garnacho as he didn't even know he was there.
It's a terrible call mate.

Doesn't matter though, I'd rather we lost anyway.

Annoying thing is if Maguire was more offside the goal would have counted.😂

=====
He had to challenge Maguire, and Maguires attempts to play the ball stopped the defender playing the ball. If Maguire doesn't attempt to play the ball then the defender has a far easier job of cutting out the free-kick.

Reminds me of our goal against Burnley that was disallowed. Even if we had no offside player on these two occasions we would have still scored.

Man City goal that stood against Fulham was only scored due to an offside and it stands. We are like cursed.

posted on 4/11/23

I believe we had the most goals disallowed this season in all of England.

You won last years derby at OT with a ludicrously offside goal, so maybe not that cursed.
