Come on bro, you gotta disguise the wumming at least a little.

I don't get the joke Not one name on that list is world class even if you don't take form and injury out of the picture.

There is no wum.

If you play Maguire in a deep lying defence, he is phenomenal.

Loses nothing in the air, plays the ball out really well, strong, defends in his own box properly.

Maguire's issues at United have been as a result of playing a high line.

Shaw, Casemiro and Bruno.

In my opinion they are all world class. Some need certain systems, tactics and positioning to achieve it. But they are.

Nah I still would say not including the likes of Varane, Lisandro, Rashford and Hojlund is harsh

and you'd be far closer to the truth than the OP, sadly.

Obviously it's all very subjective... But to me, only Shaw could really be argued one of the 3/4 best in the world in his position, when in top form. Unless we really move the goal posts by using their very peak, in form purple patches... You could possibly think about Rashers and Bruno, but i'm sure there are plenty of better players in those positions when at their absolute peak.

Saliba at Arsenal is a complete monster. Easily world class.

VVD world class not now. Maybe in 2020.

Ederson and Stones aren't world class. KDB is old now and hardly plays.

Son isn't world class. Bottles too many big games.

How is Bruno not world class though? Look at his numbers.

Rashford is world class. Just badly managed and out of form.

A lot of United players are World Class, just not at football (unless FIFA on PS5 counts)

posted on 16/11/23

What's the definition of world class though?

Someone who gets into a World XI?

Someone who gets into a World squad?

Someone in the top five in the world in their position?

As sad as it is I don't think many United players make that cut. Perhaps Bruno as a No10/AM and Shaw at LB?

To put my comment into context though it isn't about being world class though as individuals. It's getting them to play as a team. We have more than enough, even now, to play better than what we are doing. Hopefully when everyone is back we'll see a progression.

Diafol,

I would say world class is having an element of your game, as a player, that puts you in the top 4-5 in the world.

For example Rashford is world class because if you use him properly, he's in the same boat as Mbappe, Vinicius etc.

When Rashford is played in the wrong system and doesn't have full backs isolated or space to run into, he's not as effective. Same as Mbappe or Vinicius would be.

Rashford can be very good but at present I think he lacks that consistency. He tends to perform in bursts. If we did have better control of matches though and could get him one on one with full backs more often earlier in moves then he'd no doubt look much better.

For me World Class is performing at the highest of levels consistently.

There are many players when on their day are of the highest quality, but those who do it consistently sets them apart as being world class.

For this reason i see players like Rashford as being far from WC, the likes of Bruno and Son are closer but just do not deliver consistently enough to really be considered. Someone like Salah is on it most games, most seasons, as is Kane

All you need to do with Rashford, like Mbappe, is leave him as close to the fullback as possible and play it in behind a defence.

He's lethal. This year he's off form and ETH is managing him wrongly. But he's world class when applied correctly.

Look at last year, he outscored Salah for example.

posted on 16/11/23

How is Maguire top four or five in the world. I don't care who's managing him there's dozens of players better just in the pl.

posted on 16/11/23

Varane and Casemiro are when fully fit and in form, problem is that just doesn't happen at the moment.

Bruno, Martinez could easily be if they get the right platform. Shaw could possibly added to that list.

Hojland is the main younger player with the potential to be one day. Garnacho could go either way.
