I read the other day that United currently employ about 300 more staff than City do. What the hell are all these people doing?
------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sure there are lots of inefficiencies. But if both clubs were run the same way, United would probably still have a lot more staff than City. We have maybe 40% more staff than them - but when you the size of the size of the brand, the sheer amount of commercial, marketing, communications work generated by our operations, maybe when it's cut down to a streamlined operation we still require 25% more staff. (Arbitrary numbers of course.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you count match day waiters stadium stewards, hospitality hosts (at both Old Traffords) car park attendants, chefs and kitchen staff, gatemen, security teams, concourse vendors, toilet cleaners etc. Etc. I would estimate that United employ hundreds more staff than any PL club.
RBW - good shout: bigger stadium, bigger crowds, more people buying food and visiting the stadium --> more staff.
