Fowler V Owen debate

Fowler and fairly easily. Technically far superior. In fact the only thing Owen was better at was running really quickly until his hamstrings went at about 23 years old.

Fowler any day and twice on the weekends.

Both suffered with injuries, but Fowler was the most perfect striker we have ever had. That includes Rush from an ability perspective.

Imagine Fowler before the injures in this team now! Erling who?

Also, the game changed when Fowler and Berger came on. Those guys won us the game, Owen just got the goals and therefore the plaudits.

As a neutral I always felt Fowler was the better player.

Fowler, absolutely lethal finisher, one of the best ever.

Owen was all about pace and when that went he was more or less finished.

That's not quite true. He lost his explosive pace after his hammys went and he was just 19. he slowly became a box striker and a more conventional number 9 as a result. He still scored plenty.

Fowler for me, in his prime he was unbelievable. That right foot curler at Old toilet is one of my favourite goals. His 5 min hatrick also special. Injuries robbed us of probably the greatest CF England ever produced. Owen too was great. We've been blessed with strikers, Suarez and Torres also absolute dynamite for us although shorter stints

At his peak, Fowler. His finishing off both feet were superb. But his movement and pace were strong as well. Could hold the ball up a bit, he was quite strong for his size, as well as run in behind. Much more to his game imo.

What I would say though is that Owen had the better career. More honours (club and personal), much better international career, scored more outside of his peak years and played for Madrid.

So I'd take Owen's career but as player, Fowler.

Fowler for me, he was the only player I’ve seen who could compare to Ian Rush in terms of finishing.

Owen’s peak was starring at a World Cup at 18, scoring a brace in an fa cup final against prime arsenal and winning the ballon d’or

I get Liverpool fans are more attached to fowler tho

I heard the clip and Owen's argument was every manager for club and country picked him over Fowler.

To Owen's credit he did win a Ballon D'Or but for me Fowler was just a pure goal scorer who could score any type of goal. Crazy to think Fowler only has 26 England caps. Should be more but he was unlucky due to the depth of strikers at the time.

Fowler is better for me.

no.

Owen was debuted at 17 in thr final game of a season and was massive anticipated by fans as he broke all the records at youth level.

fowler was brilliant when young and prior to a serious knee injury was quick and the better finisher by far.

fowler wasn't a good pro. the stories were well known and that's why he never came back really fit ever.

I never really thought own was any good on the ball. we was a runner.

for me if fowler had a bit of professionalism and today's sports science he'd have been more lethal than kane ever was. left foot genius. could ehad it and score off the right.

Seem to remember a goal celebration where he snorted the sideline, anyway how could Owen ever match up to God.

This isnt against the back stabbed because he joined man-united. But Fowler was a much better finisher than Owen ever was

Fowler’s finishing was top class but then so was Owen’s.

Fowler was a more natural and gifted footballer and Owen the more natural athlete.

I really think there is nothing to pick between them. Both fvcked very strong Arsenal defences on several dramatic occasions.

Fowler. Never got the hype about Owen, fairly one-dimensional footballer, and a bland character to boot.

Fowler had a lot more to him, and had the character that could lift a team and an entire stadium.

Properly motivated, I think Fowler would suit a Klopp team much more too.

Fowler seemed a bit of a party boy to me. I think even without injuries he wouldn't have ever hit his ceiling, whereas Owen seemed more professional and would have gone further without injuries. He already had the better career as it is.
