According to Adam Pope:
"The BBC journalist reported via Twitter on the morning of 29 January that the Norwegian’s exit from Elland Road should happen within the “next 24-48 hours.”
His level and a club that suits him imo.
Another Orta signing that never made it.
Only another 79 or so to go....
Didn't really do himself any favours when he played earlier in the season, got substituted in both games at half time and was clearly struggling.
By all accounts, did OK last season but the few times I have seen him play for the U21's he hasn't really stood out.
A long way off our first team.
To say that Sunderland is his level discredits Sunderland, they are doing OK, and are on the cusp of the play-offs, he may come back to haunt us.
My concern is that, it will be another departure from our defence and we are not replacing any of them.
Ayling, Spence, now Hjelde all gone.
Struijk has a major injury that could keep him out for a good few weeks.
Squad looking very stretched, we only need an injury to Rodon, Ampadu or similar and our season could collapse.
He was another one of the 7-0ers
oh no, a player leaving
best get into transfer market and sign 25 players for that position
If it is a 2 mill fee, that's not a bad piece of business.
For me, he's one of the players se need an upgrade over anyway.

That's the gamble. Still time to bring a couple in.
If we do land Godfrey, that'd be a solid addition
and a real upgrade. IF.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
How do you call that not bad?
He's cost us a fee in the first place.
He's cost us wages and all the training and medical resources he's consumed over last 3 years whilst also depriving a local youngster of a place.
We could say that's price of hoping you sign a good player, but ultimately it's a cost and at 2 mill, I'd wager he's cost us more than that.
Jonty, good in the sense that 2 mill is there or thereabouts what we paid for him (wasn't it 1.5 mill?).
Wages are off the books. And he's a player who if we
do go up, clearly isn't in Farke's plans. And probably
not good enough for Prem anyway. Clearing out Orta's
deadwood is a good thing.

so we kind of get back what we paid 3 years ago, which is worth less now due to inflation and we paid out 3 years of costs, developing him for another club.
It's just the frustration of all these rubbish Orta signings that we had by the dozen and cost us dearly.
Agree with you. But, something's better thsn nothing.
If we don't go up this season, club will be juggling a lot
of deadwood before we can make strides forward.

Found an article where we signed him for 1m. Tbf Summerville would be £20mil plus, Struijk around 10 - 15 mil and Meslier around £10m. So we're definitely in a net positive with our youth recruitment.
Any updates on Dan James's injury ??

We definitely don't want to start next season like we did this season. Get rid of all the excess players at a loss if we have to, how does holding on to them waiting for a good fee make any sense?
2 million sounds pretty good to me considering.

I guess for every Summerville you get a Hjelde.

No, he wasn't really that bad, given he was played out of position and then clearly wasn't going to cut it at left-back. Basically, after August he was just never going to get a game, and wasn't doing enough in training to trouble the first-team squad. Farke won't have someone hanging around just for the sake of it.
I do feel a bit for him as he was earmarked for the future, but relegation kind of did for him in that regard and now he's something of a luxury we can't afford to keep if we're looking at strengthening the squad elsewhere.
Read this morning that Struijk injury is longer term than previously expected.
Looks like Brooks is headinv to Southampton.

I watched quite a lot of Hjelde at Celtic cos he was kinda brought in to replace my own lad - complex story. He never played for ages either through work permit or injury then when he was fit never seemed to play much either. He had a bit of swagger but imho unmerited - he was no standout and tbf Celtic never treated him thus. He just never seemed to play much before he was gone. He played some LB but was clearly never a LB. Your description resonates somewhat.
