Yeah he was quality. 90 was the first world cup I watched just about every minute of. Didn't like Germany but hard to ignore Brehme, although Matthaus got most of the plaudits Brehme was equally as pivotal.

To win Serie A player of the year, especially considering the players in Serie A at the time, is quite something. 3rd in Balon d'Or is also something else for a left back, although i think Maldini and Roberto Carlos also got around there.

I seem to remember him scoring a great goal in the 1990 world cup when he cut in from the left and bent it in to the far corner with his right.
Probably the 2nd best LB in the early 90's, behind Maldini.

Just looked on you tube, you're right. Maybe not a great goal but a big one.
He also scored against us in the semi final, albeit with a massive defection

Agree with all the above.

Always makes me smile when people go on about great players who can only play with one one foot!
