How many people are saying what's in the OP? That's right, it's just one guy hoping for a reaction and to gain infamy from this. He's playing the culture war for persona gain.

The question is, why does it work? Some people are really activated and react quite vibrantly to this topic. He knows that as strange as the allegation is, the reaction to it will be even stranger. He knows people with certain views will plaster it all over the internet.
