Liverpool will be a lot more ruthless with the chances we give up and space in midfield plus their confidence is sky high just now.

Will be going with trepidation, our best hope is they have a bit of a Euro fixture hangover from Thursday night and are not quite at it .

We all know what the issues are with the team and how teams are constantly exposing us and each week that goes by nothing changes. ETH hasn't done anything to plus the huge gaps between defence and midfield.

People said when Casemiro came back alongside Mainoo we'd be tighter in midfield and our defence would get more protection but if anything we've been just as bad. Casemiro has been an absolute disaster this season in pretty much every game. You can count his good performances on one hand.

I genuinely don't think Erik knows how to fix this. That's the problem and I won't be sorry to see him go if that's what transpires this summer which is what I'm expecting.

Rashford n Hojlund could give Liverpool some problems but my god Salah Nunez Diaz and co are going to get lots of opportunities too.

Agreed, he appears to have done nothing to try and rectify the wide open midfield.

It's the old saying 'definition of insanity' and doing the same thing expecting different results.

Each week we play the exact same turgid football with the same plan. High risk through balls which very rarely come off and the reason why we can't control games.

He looks like a man who is willing to accept his fate and payoff. Doesn't seem like he's trying his all to find solutions to me. It's like he's given up.

I think we are about to see the KO of his United tenure unfortunately.

Liverpool cup
Brentford A
Chelsea A
Liverpool again

It's not out of the question that we don't win any of those games the way we are playing.

As I said....do or die time for Erik's Utd career. I think I know which way it's going to go too.

If we suffer a humiliating defeat, it is the end for ETH.

without a doubt. But it will have to be humiliating.

It depends whether Rasmus can play I think we have a chance. If not no.
But of course it's possible.

I can’t see past a dip win here. There seems to be no get up and go with most of our players. I don’t think they are capable of a surprise result.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If they don't show get up and go in this fixture, when basically it's what we have left this season really, then that'll say a lot about the players. I want, no expect, nothing less than 100%. No excuses. There's no reason not to leave everything out there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s all I hope for to be honest. The players leave nothing out there and then I think we have a chance.

If the players all play at 100% and close to their full ability then, IMO, there's not that much between the teams anyway. Our main issue IMO is that we just don't set up optimally for the players we do have.

On Sunday I'd be looking to be agressive but also be sensible in defending quite deep and hitting on the break. If we try to press from the front and get it wrong then we could be in for a long old afternoon.

or our No 6s (and others) giving the ball away in front of our CBs. If United did that as much as we did vs Everton again, it could be another thumping.

Giving the ball away at the back against Liverpool is the worst thing you can do. They swarm all over you.

It's not going to be pretty viewing again I fear. Be amazed if we have more than 35% of the ball.

We will need Casemiro to be the Real Madrid version of Casemiro... not the one that turned up vs Everton last week.

This is because we have over rated Mainoo. A lot of the game passes him by. He is a very good prospect though but he is nowhere near ready for a two man midfield.

ETH’s tactics don’t help either. Where on earth was McT supposed to be playing against Everton. He was neither in midfield or up top. He seemed to be in no man’s land.

I dont think Mainoo is overrated. Hes done well in his first few senior games. Hes a talent no doubt and shows a lot of maturity on the ball, especially compared to those senior players around him who seem to have forgotten the basics and should show better themselves, but for a club like United to 'depend' on him already, which is the way it seems to be going, just shows how far United have regressed.

Same goes for Hojland.

Thing with the scousers is you can't let them have a quick start. If you can manage the first 20 minutes without conceding you have a great chance.

We do tend to over rate our own players when they first arrive.

I remember after just 4-5 games that people were saying AWB was going to be England's next long term right back. Still hasn't had a call up to the squad.

Januzaj was the next saviour too once upon a time.

Mainoo is doing well but the hype needs to calm down I agree. He's got a long way to go to fullfil the obvious potential that is there.

Yeah. Some do go over the top with him as you'd expect, but I think given the state we're in it's slightly harsh to say games pass him by. I think you could put pretty much whatever midfielder you want in that position - games would pass them by because this team just isn't set up to control football matches unfortunately.

I'm overall pretty relieved he isn't involved in the England set up, but part of me was curious to see what he looked like playing with, let's face it, much better players.

I agree. I think Mainoo has been. Yes gets over ran but so would 99% of midfielders being put in there with Casemiro and Bruno.

Their ball retention is also terrible.

I think Mainoo would be excellent on the left or right of a midfield 3.

Sunday is the acid test. It's Last Chance Saloon for some of these players. If we lose, the season ends and the inquests start. Not just by the supporters and press... it begins in ernest for INEOS too.

If these players and coaching staff cant get motivated by that then God help them.

Sunday is going to be emotional. I cant wait.

Yes, I think some of these players will be playing for their futures. Nothing less than 100% commitment will do!
