Sadly diafol we both attract our fair share of the knuckle dragging moron brigade but it’s a minority
Also congrats on yesterday
Like racism, you are never going to eradicate it. Just need to ensure it's punished as often as possible.

Yes, that's very true. I'm all for a laugh and a joke but this just takes is far too far. There's one guy in particular that's doing the rounds on X. The idiot.
It is learned behaviour. You can't just eliminate it, just like that. It can only be taken out of the game gradually, like quitting smoking.
What we need to do, instead of just trying to ban tragedy chanting altogether, is to ease the fans out of tragedy chanting like a turtle sitting in cold water on a stove.
A good way to do this is to gradually introduce tragedy chants that are increasingly less severe and relevant. We could move on to things like 9/11 and Titanic for example which are still pretty big but not as relevant to the club. "She sinks when she wants, she sinks when she waaants, RMS Titanic, she sinks when she wants". Just some good examples.
Then once we have moved away from the more serious tragedy chants, we can ease down to chants about someone breaking a finger nail or such and our fans won't have noticed because we have eased them into it instead of completely banning tragedy chanting, immediately.
I am sure the club are already onto this as the club knows the club better than I do, but we really need to make some progress.
Also reflected on here by United fans who can't get through a sentence about us without calling us 'bin dippers' 'rats', 'scvm' etc/or applying 30 year old stereotypes about employment. The same people who will jump on the thread calling Klopp a child for one reaction towards a reported yesterday. It's like a propertion of United fans on here enjoy the childish name calliing more than the result.
Rarely see any of the above reciprocated by LFC fans on here.
It was definitely our fans that started it yesterday which is often is these days. It was very loud too near me.
Although to caveat that it was Liverpool fans who had a 30 year headstart with all this nonsense. My Dad had to stand on the Stretty for nearly 30 years listening to it from them lot until a cruel twist of fate hit their own club.
It needs eradicating from the game, true, but it's not going anywhere sadly.

Yeah, those stereotypical Scouser / Manchester.put downs further puzzle me, as I suspect very few of the fans on here come from Liverpool or.Manchester.

Yes there are a few on here who are quite abusive. It’s a game of football absolutely no need for insults like that. I’m all for a bit of banter and crack but no need for abuse

If you could only eliminate one, which would you choose, tragedy chanting or racism?
How about better education !
It's tragic that fans can resort something as low as this for the sake of tribalism. Poor education and social background may be the root cause. It's a cultural issue. The blame can also be levelled at Liverpool fans who mock our dead by imitating airplanes, etc. Both sides must stop, it's ridiculous.
Many reds on this forum resort to childish insults towards Liverpool and Liverpool fans. That's how it tends to start, starts small scale then it's normalised to be "acceptable" in public arenas by the fanbase.
I don't really know how you're ever going to stop it. The type of people to do it aren't going to be swayed by simply asking for it to stop.
I guess punishing a club outside of fines might make an impact but that's probably it.

It's difficult. Both are abhorrent, but racism is already widely condemend, where as I feel Tragedy chanting is accepted by a lot more as an inevitable part of football.
its United vs Liverpool. It waill always happen coming from both sides.
Like having to seal off the first few rows of the upper tier at the Scoreboard End to segregate the idiots from lobbing stuff (including bags of pizz and chite in the past) onto the United supporters seated below.
A flare was thrown from the Liverpool end into our disabled section too.
Still can't quite believe we place our most vulnerable supporters right near the away end though. Hopefully a new stadium will finally address this.

It was an absolute disgrace. People in wheelchairs sitting right along from the Liverpool fans and you could clearly hear the Liverpool fans singing something along the lines of they'll never walk and they weren't even discreet about it.
