Think people need to stop hoping for some 'turning point' game. It's not going to come, because the team is just wildly inconsistent and overall not very good. I wouldn't put it past us to get twātted 3-0 by this same Liverpool team in a few weeks.

We were awful second half Sunday. Attitude seemed to be the game was done and they paid the price.

Enjoy

Not sure about an omen but it should be a blueprint in that we should always work hard and try to be on the front foot.

I'd be very surprised if we lose the semi to Coventry though. We may well make hard work of it but I do think we'll win by a couple.

I'd have preferred Man City in the semi if I am being honest though. Think there's more chance of beating them there (in the middle of a hectic schedule) than after the league season has ended. For some reason though Chelsea are able to cause City problems so who knows?

What faint hearts. Surely it gave us reasons to be optimistic. We aren't doomed to be Everton.

It certainly was a cause for optimism but I think a lot of us here have been pretty damaged by similar 'false dawns' in the last decade so don't want to commit!

That's why both teams gave it their all until the end of extra time, right? Liverpool just gave up, that old chestnut. Absolute nonsense.

Truth is we didn't really get out of even 2nd gear for that game and should still have scored like 10 goals in 90 minutes.

Sheet happens. I wouldn't call it an omen, but we'll see in the coming weeks.

It's not that I think we are suddenly going to be good. But it did show some real positives. I good CB and defensive midfielder in summer and we're good to go. Back up striker would be nice. See who's coming up through the ranks. Luck with injuries. All needed.
But we showed character and some decent play.

I think it demonstrates he’s not lost the dressing room.

Flip side is it took a last gasp goal to stop you being beaten at home after letting in three.

We are, but that’s not really my point. It’s not like Utd are in league one, they’re 6th in the hardest league in the world.

Football is such fine margins and if you didn’t equalise at the death the whole narrative would be the plat opposite.

Personally I think EtH deserves a lot of credit for that result. He put on pretty much every forward he had and got the rewards, fair play.

You let in 4, could have been even more and we're meant to be sheite! It demonstrates Klopp is right to be leaving.

Yep, we managed the game poorly and gifted you two goals. Fair play Utd for leaving two up and countering us well.

................

Why would it? I would be optimistic if we carried on playing with that amount of effort and passion though.

But as we have seen continually this season, we take one step forwards and three steps back.

There is no possible way you cannot know this, 52.

Whatever floats you boat. I watch us every week, sometimes twice. United played the game of their lives and I can see why their fans are over the moon as they are starved of such things these days.

We didn't even get out of 2nd gear which is understandable all things considered.

Liverpool were subdued, flat for the first half an hour or so but woke up once we erred in defensive areas. A period of sustained possession led to the equaliser (enforced errors on our part too) then a lead. You weren't at your prime best but still good enough to win it. If the game had finished 3-2 to you I doubt you'd be making those statements!

What was obvious was the lack of pressing that's renowned with Klopp's Liverpool, that helped us. You just could not handle Garnacho and his direct running, he was a difference in wearing you down.

Fortune favours the brave, we took risks, gambled big late on and it paid off.

Twenty-Five shots at goal and eleven on target suggests you are talking utter bollox as usual.

I don’t think either side played to their best, which is to be expected in a frenetic derby cup game. We can both point to things we did well, and did poorly.

Utd were actually a bit unlucky, certainly to go in at HT behind.

As said, EtH gambled with his subs and won.

Goal for 3-3, misplaced pass from Nunez can be considered a gift. The goal for the winner, Amad pickpockets Elliot on the edge of our D, passes to Nacho. Both sprinted almost length of the pitch before Nacho passes to Amad, his first touch leads to a tight angle on goal and shot had to be precise, it was! Easier to strike it straight at the keeper but he sliced it, deliberately, to the far corner, out of reach of the diving keeper. This was no gift, it was sheer brilliance.
